Good value

Posted 12-Sep-2014
Pros: Location, cleanliness, welcome.
Cons: All fine
Location: Walking distance to the town centre, priory Station and the docks.
Very good value guest house on a moderately busy road. I had a room at the back of the house which was quiet enough. Furnishings and decor were OK and the place was clean. More than adequate for a one night stay.

Reads better than it is.

Pros: It's close to the ferry port but off the main lorry routes, so quiet and convenient. Host is helpful. Bathroom clean.
Cons: Smells, mattress, breakfast hours, get an answerphone.
One night stay in a single room. I've travelled extensively and this was one of the most uncomfortable and sleepless nights yet experienced. Room - ok, slightly smelling of staleness, bed or blankets appear to have been 'freshened' by spraying air-freshener over them, mattress ridiculously uncomfortable and possibly the worst I've ever experience in any hotel anywhere. Gave up and tried the floor, it wasn't much of an improvement but it was an improvement. Couldn't complain as they'd all gone to bed and the place was full anyway so was stuck with it. Got 2-3 hours sleep, not helpful or what I'd paid for. No breakfast at all before 7am - less than helpful with a 0630 check-in ferry time and no notice given of this on any of the websites I could have booked through. Very difficult to get through to on the telephone and does not have an answerphone.

Very homely and great for an overnight stay

Posted 20-Aug-2014
Pros: The homely feeling and great little garden outside.
Cons: No
Location: Within walking distance to Dover town centre but not very much to see
I stayed at west bank guesthouse for one night as I had an early morning ferry to catch. I phoned a couple of days before to get directions and found the staff very helpful. The guest house itself felt very homely and the room was clean and the bed comfortable. Shared bathroom facilities were not a problem and were well maintained. Breakfast was very tasty and worth the £6.50.

Good for a stop over

Posted 06-Aug-2014
Pros: secure motorbike parking, late check in,early check out and friendly staff
Cons: Possibly fans for the rooms as it was quite warm and a seagull scarer lol
Location: easy to find (2-3 mins from dover port) and a garage closeby to fill up with fuel before leaving the country.
After a hectic journey to dover arriving very late (22.30) we arrived on our motorbikes (plenty of bike parking) to a helpful and warm welcome, the room was comfortable and the (much needed) shower very welcome!!! The early checkout was useful as we were catching an early ferry, just leave the room key in reception, put the code into the lock for the side gate, open the rear gates and go,simple as that!!! I`ll use the west bank again for sure.

Good for an overnight stay

Posted 22-Jul-2014
Staff were very helpful. There is a large tv in the public area and they helped me get the Tour de France on it. The breakfast was good and the room (a single) was clean and comfortable, though it would have been better with more space for clothes. Only draw back was the location. It is near the railway station, but is on a busy local road (no heavy lorrys while I was there though), I had a room at the back and didn't find noise a problem. It's also at least 20 minutes walk from the seafront. Very good value for an overwhelming stay though.

Good for the price, convenient for families

Posted 22-May-2014 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay. The family suite was great for us, as we are traveling with our two children, who are both adult size. Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order. They have private parking behind the hotel, very handy. The biggest issue was the shower, which like many showers in England was a) very small, b) had no place for soap/gel and c) could not be set for a comfortably hot shower.
