We only stayed 1 night, it was our halfway point from ft lauderdale on our way to key west. I will definitely go back for a longer stay! The pool was nice and not crowded and the breakfast was delicious! They recently remodeled and it is beautiful!
The Postcard Inn was the perfect place for our short getaway. We upgraded to an oceanfront room and it was awesome! If you expect everything to be perfect while on vacation anywhere, you're going to be highly disappointed. No, the bathtub paint wasn't perfect but who cares?! You're on vacation, in paradise. The staff was friendly everywhere and we were even allowed to check in extremely early due to our extremely early flight. That's not something places have to do. We were also able to still access everything after checking out. Overall it was the best vacation ever!! We're already talking about coming back next year :)
Nice waterfront rooms with an island feel. The best part is they offer complimentary kayak use with your stay, and there's a nice area to put in and go kayaking just steps from the rooms. The breakfast is small, just bagels, muffins or danishes and orange juice or coffee.
We had a very good experience at this hotel. The location is very good and the rates are superbl. Probably not the best place for kids as there would probably be a lack of things for them to do - but very good for couples. Very clean and well maintained. All staff was superb. Great water view and a fairly adequate beach. I would stay there again. There are undoubtedly "cooler" places to stay on Islamorada but for the money Pelican Cove is hard to beat.
Gotta say that La Siesta was what we expected for a mid-priced Key resort... beautifully landscaped, nice pool, not too fancy, but very comfortable (well, in some respects there could be vast yet simple to implement improvements...see below) and convenient to everything in Islamorada. We have no complaints about the staff - very attentive to our needs, good housekeeping, an "okay" breakfast buffet (very good for cold breakfast lovers) & pretty knowledgeable about the area... Our ocean front cabin had central access to everything in the resort, but we would like to make the following comments/suggestions to owner/management:
* Make sure ALL seating in units and patios are in good repair or REPLACED when needed. We had some really crappy chairs in and out - some totally unusable.
* Put a couple of ice cube trays in freezers... Having to purchase ice is sorta insulting to resort guests who are paying a per day resort fee!!!
* Make sure that all TV cable connections are operational - we had no service at all in bedroom and the living area had little or no service our whole 5 day stay. Staff tried real hard to repair, but cable company needed to restore on our last day!
* You have a pool - put 2 pool towels in each unit!!!
* "Deluxe" units should at least have a coffee table in front of sofas - no where to place cocktails!
Okay - not earthshattering problems, but simple amenities to make the stay even better!
Overall, a really nice vacation spot that a couple/family can enjoy.
We got to Creekside Inn around 1900 hours after a morning on the road and an afternoon of Snorkeling at nearby John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. We were tired and after check-in, were pleasantly surprised to find a clean, neat and good sized room with a very comfortable bed. After a quick shower we went to dinner at nearby Lorelei in Islamorada. When we got back we slept very well and although Creekside Inn is next to US1, we never heard any irritating road noises. The rooms have two doors - the main entrance door from the parking lot and the door to the canal sitting area. The back side of the property sits on the edge of a canal and had we had more time we would've sat back there to relax as each room has it's own patio chairs and tables. We rested very well.
Islamorada (“purple island” in Spanish) in the northern Florida Keys is known as the “Sport Fishing Capital of the World.” Theater of the Sea, a popular animal park, allows visitors up, close, and personal experiences with dolphins, sea lions, and stingrays.
