Cheeca Lodge is a beautiful property with a careless management. Some of the employees are very attentive and others couldn't care less. The service at the pool is almost non existent. The few employees who tend the pool work like they don't need their job. It takes forever to get a couple of drinks and a it was like that for the 4 days we stayed. The room was clean. The halls and balconies are dirty and need a coat of fresh paint. We had to haul all our stuff to our room on the second floor. Bell service should be better for a place of this category.
These issues should be easily spotted by a caring management team. Why they need me to tell them?
This was a great hotel, right on the beach, great pools with a poolside bar and grill. Lovely staff and very helpful. Islander Watersports is on site to help set up snorkel trips, rent kayaks and aqua cycles and more. We had a great time!!
So glad I found this place. Phenomenal resort, staff is great. Loved every moment of my 4 day stay there. The pool is awesome and so is all the other activities to do there. Met some nice guest during my stay, very much of a community.
We stayed in one of the town home units on the ocean side across the street from the office. These units have three good size bedrooms and a full kitchen. The view from the town homes is nothing to write home about, but it is on a canal where you can park your boat. Be mindful that boat parking is first come first serve apparently, but we always had a place to park our 20ft rented boat. There is a pool that is dedicated to the town home units. The room and building was clean, but we had some ants (three different kinds) and a two roaches on the last day of our stay. However, this is Florida and it is the keys; it's not unusual to see bugs. Service was okay. The continental breakfast is not too great. Road noise in the rooms closest to the street was a bit loud.
The resort is located in the middle of Long Key and there are not many restaurants or other businesses in the area. There is a very good little cuban place down the road called Hubanos that is worth the short drive. Islamorada is about 20 minutes away and there are many choices there.
But even with it's remoteness and some deficiencies, we had a great time on our vacation and would probably go back to Lime Tree Bay. It's a quaint little place, and we enjoy our week there.
Islamorada (“purple island” in Spanish) in the northern Florida Keys is known as the “Sport Fishing Capital of the World.” Theater of the Sea, a popular animal park, allows visitors up, close, and personal experiences with dolphins, sea lions, and stingrays.
