This was a perfect getaway for us. The hotel is brand new and very clean. We where upgraded to a ocean view suite. I would request one with the same view again. The hotel has a very modern look and feel. We would visit again.
I understand that the property is under new ownership, it looks like they are pouring lots of money into it! However, they will need to find management that knows what that means...the big, beautiful new public restrooms were filthy. The new (and plentiful) toilets have a flush mechanism that apparently is too hard to figure out for most and the toilets were full, there was paper everywhere and a bottle of cleaner on the floor of one of the stalls. The pool restroom light didn't work at night and again the place was a mess. Our room was recently renovated and was very nice. However the bathroom door did not close, the tub did not drain. There were hair balls stuck to the carpet and what felt like sand on the blanket of one bed. Our view was of the maintenance room where the workers stood outside arguing and laughing, most would not acknowledge your presence when spoken to. At the pool, which was nice and clean we received a lecture by the bartender about how to run a tab , "only if you buy more than one drink and cash it out by the end of the day"...really? We experienced two different dog incidents, we ARE dog people but this was ridiculous: one family showed up with their dog who barked relentlessly and did not mind her owner who just kept shushing her. The other one was a dog off leash who's owner just kept yelling at her and would follow her around and disturb those that were TRYING to have a RELAXING vacation! Why cater to ONE at the expense of the rest?
I loved the hotel, the view, the room, the pool, the grounds. All excellent. The only problem we had was our room was next to the road and the traffic was hard to fall asleep to and it woke us up around 6am - 7am every morning. We recommend requesting a room further off the main road, which they have many. Also we recommend going grocery shopping and bringing food to your room because restaurants are a bit of a drive away. There is an Italian restaurant next door, but it's not really want you want to eat in The Keys.
Stayed 2 nights with 2 days in between.
Very enjoyable both times.
Some ant problems in bathroom but there had been a lot of rain.
Only one wastebasket both times. It was a recycle basket so one more would have been helpful.
Overall a super place to stay. Has been good over the years and it has improved as a Guy Harvey resort.
We stayed in the cottage which was the most expensive and the only room advertised on Expedia. There were other rooms available but not advertised. They charged an extra $30 for an additional child although I said there would be three in the cottage. Overall the place was nice.
