“"Can't wait to go back ! Wonderful staff, very clean facility, great location!”

We had a wonderful stay at Azul Key West. Upon arrival,we were warmly greeted by the staff,Becka and Micheal. They both made sure we were well acquainted with the area and all the things to see and do.In our room, there was a list of reccommended restuatants to try,and we weren't dissappointed. The thing that impressed us the most was the exceptional customer service, friendly staff and cleanliness of the room. The location of Azul Key West is ideal, it is in close proximity to everything. We can't wait to go back in September ! Leslie and Lil

“Perfect!”

I found out this was a bed & breakfast only a day or two before arriving. Since I've never stayed at one before, I was very curious as to how my stay would be. I was beyond impressed. Upon arrival to this beautifully restored 108 year old B&B, I was greeted by name, given a tour of the grounds and of my room. I'd arrived too early to actually check into my room but was told I was welcome to relax by the pool, in the lounge, or on the sundeck if I'd like. Everything about Azul was fantastic. It's close to Duval Street, secured at night and the staff there are professional AND personable. They have parking on the grounds instead of on the street. If you're traveling with bicycles, they have a place to lock up. The Continental Breakfast is HOME COOKED and delicious - freshly baked muffins, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruits, yogurts, cereal, toast with marmalade/jelly/butter, coffee, tea, and juice. There's a lovely poolside patio and garden where breakfast can be enjoyed...or you can sit out, have a cup of coffee, read a paper, and relax. Almost forgot about my room - Since I was a single traveler I wasn't concerned with a huge room, but I got more than I'd expected. Beautifully appointed room, huge bed with soft linens and comfortable pillows. The room had high ceilings and even the bathroom was very modern looking. I didn't use it, but having the free wi-fi is also a plus. I could go on forever talking about Azul. I can't wait to go back.

Area recommendations
If you're heading to Key West, hotel location is a key. Keep in mind that you'll probably pay more for hotels closer to Duval Street, but 9 times out of 10 it's worth it. Truman Ave (aka US1), S. Roosevelt, Duval, and Simonton Ave are all great locations. Locations listed as N. Roosevelt are usually closer to the Key West Airport or the outskirts of Key West and a bit further away from Duval. In all honesty, Key West is easily accessible by foot, car, bike, scooter, or what-have-you. It all depends what your interests are. Where you stay also depends on what you intend to do during your stay.
Getting there
Getting to Key West is super easy. If you plan on driving there, it's literally 1 road, south all the way. If you're leaving from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or any point in the mainland United States, you can start your trip by heading south on any of the following: I-95, SR826 (the Palmetto Expressway), or the Florida Turnpike. Keep in mind, you'll have tolls to pay on the FL-TP. Once you head far enough south, these roads converge and become US Highway 1, or US1 to the locals. US1 will take you straight through the different islands of the Keys, all the way down to Mile Marker 0 in Key West. In Key West, US1 is also called Truman Ave. Other ways of getting to the Keys include buses. There are a number of buses that leave and arrive every day. A number of airlines also offer daily services to Key West Airport.
Getting around
Getting around is easy. Most places are walking distance. There are tons of places where you can rent scooters, bikes, and golf carts. In Key West, take a trip on the Conch Train. It's a tour around Key West and quite fun and informative. There are also hop on/hop off trolley tours. If you need taxi service, just look for the pink taxis. If you are looking to go from island to island, there are bus services.
Must see
Southernmost Point - As the name suggests, it's as far south in the United States as you can go. Sloppy Joes Bar - A landmark! Great food and history. Right on Duval Hogs Breath Saloon - Just a fun place to hang out Fort Zachary Taylor Park - Beaches, bbq, bike trails, and a fort. Lots to explore. Hemingway House - It was his house. Now it's a fantastic museum. Look for the 6 toed cats Key West Lighthouse - Iconic Key West Duval Street - Shopping, dining, street performers, good times Key West Marina/Mallory Square - Busiest when cruise ships are in port, but also the place to go for wave runner rentals, parasailing, shopping, dining, and also your opportunity to visit the Key West Aquarium. DJ's Clam Shack - Right on Duval Street. Incredible FRESH seafood and beverages. I also recommend the sweet potato fries.

“Nice location and staff”

We very much enjoyed our 2 day stay here. We've been to Key West several times and liked this location. It is definitely walking distance (bring comfortable shoes) to all the hot spots. Michael was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very nice--fruit, muffins and yogurt. If you are expecting eggs and bacon, this is not for you but I like a nice and healthy breakfast so I thought it was great. The pool and landscaping were beautiful and plenty of outside areas if you didnt want to go out. Per another reviewer's suggestion, we went to El Siboney Cuban Restaurant which is extremely close and is off the beaten path but was outstanding food at a very reasonable price. We also went to White Fish/Red Fish by the square and loved that, too,. Our only complaint would be the size of the room (think cruise ship size) but we didnt spend much time in the room anyway. The other complaint was due to the water regulation. Perhaps since it is a historic building or maybe everyone showering at the same time, but both times we showered, it would suddenly go very hot or cold for several seconds. Other than that we loved our stay and would come back again. One last tip, we went the last day of November--great time to go to Key West, not nearly as crowded and the merchants deal with you a lot more when its less crowded. We hope to make it an annual trip.

Area recommendations
This is a great location, not on top of Duvall Street but walking distance. I am sure the Mallory Square area would be nice to stay in but I am sure it is a lot more expensive. This is a convenient location.

“Charming”

Even through it rained the whole trip... I did not mind because of the charming bed and breakfast with a lovely hotel staff... avoid faceless corporate chains and feel taken care of in this charming bed in breakfast... PS located on busy street but rooms in back... cannot hear a thing...

“Wet, Wild & Wonderful!”

This was our first time to Key West. After researching many B&B's we decided on Azul. It was perfect! Wonderful host, Michael & Becca. They were wonderful and provided a yummy breakfast every morning consisting of homade bread & muffins, hard boiled eggs (still warm), fresh fruits, cereal, yogurts, juice, teas & coffee. Our room was on the first floor next to the pool called Ambrosia. It was a king, very clean & spaciaous, tall ceilings, big bathroom and a comfy, cozy bed. Although it rained while we were there it was the best vacation. We are going back to Key West & Azul and soon as we can

“Highly recommend.”

Let me state this first. If you want a spacious room, don't book here. However, if you plan on being out and experiencing the town and won't be spending a lot of time in the room, then this place is great. The staff is awesome. They will help you find anything and will make reservations (i.e. dinner/excursions) for you. It is centrally located. Just a short walk to Duvall St. It's clean and quiet.

Getting around
Rent a bicycle.
Dining
El Siboney and Blue Heaven were awesome.

“Exceeded Expectations”

We were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the 5 nights we spent at Azul. Located several blocks from Duval, Azul is accessible to all the key attractions and has ample parking should you choose to rent a car, but better yet rent a bike! Our room was small, yet extremely clean and we enjoyed late afternoon dips in the pool before strolling to nearby restaurants for dinner. Innkeepers Michael and Becca were exceptional, sharing information and insights on various tour options, dining suggestions, and bike rentals. Daily breakfast consisted of coffee/tea, cereal, fresh fruit, muffins, soft boiled eggs and toast. Rooms don't come with a mini-fridge, however, they provide a small cooler for your use and an ice maker is on-site. If you are looking for all the amenities of a name-brand resort hotel, look elsewhere. If laid back charm in a quiet and relaxing setting is your style, this is an excellent value.

Getting around
Rent a bike if you are in physical condition to do so. Parking is challenging, Key West is very flat so biking this 2 mile by 4 mile island is the way to go.
Dining
Cuban--El Siboney is less than a 5 minute walk from Azul, moderately priced and excellent food. Pepe's is further, perhaps a 10-15 minute bike ride, also a very good choice. Special Occcasion--Latitudes on Sun Key, a short ferry ride from the Westin Resort. Awesome setting on the beach; superior food and service. Go for lunch or just before sunset.
Other
Historical Society offers tours of the cemetary Tues & Thurs at 9:30 for $15. Well worth it.

“great experience”

My wife and I stayed here for three nights. We loved it! Our room was small but it was perfect. It was just a short walk from Duval Street and all of the action. Michael was very nice and helpful. He made reservations for us and called taxis for us as well. The Aveda products in the bathroom was also a nice touch. When we go back we plan on staying here again!
