Exceptional Service and Comfort at Kemp Townhouse

Posted 19-Jun-2015
I had a one night stay at Kemp Townhouse and enjoyed every aspect from the very kind service to the comfort of my room. I found the location to be perfect for a walk along the boardwalk or a walk into the city centre. The service and breakfast in the morning was exceptional. Very polite staff. The room was very comfortable with all the bells and whistles. I will return and stay longer next time.

Cozy stay but little sleep

Posted 12-Jun-2015
Pros: cleanliness, staff, breakfast
Cons: soundproofing floors/ceiling
I stayed in room 003, which is directly beneath the kitchen. It is a small single room (very small). I could sit on the toilet without hitting the sink and when I showered it flooded the whole bathroom floor. The duvet was only a few cm longer than the width of the bed which was odd. The bed wasn't very comfortable, but not too bad. The only thing that really bothered me was the thumping noise coming from upstairs in the evening and early in the morning. So much for my relaxing getaway. The room was very pretty, modern and clean, but not user friendly.

Excellent Hotel Centrally Located

Posted 13-May-2015
Pros: Staff, Location, Room, Dining....pretty much everything.
Cons: In was the perfect stay, so nothing.
Location: Perfect location for getting to the major attractions and only steps from the water. You could actually see the water from our room.
This is a beautiful old townhouse that has been converted into a hotel. We were in the four poster room which was located in the front of the property. No elevators, so be prepared to climb flights of stairs, which were not an issue for us. The staff is incredibly kind and accomodating. The room was large and beautiful and stocked with amenities that helped make our stay more comfortable. Breakfast was included and was quite an extensive menu with lots of options. The wait staff was one of the best that I have encountered. The hotel itself is centrally located and we walked to everything, including the pier, Victoria Gardens, St. James street and the Royal Pavillion. There are tons of restaurants in the area to suit evey taste. This was a marvelous choice for our first time to Brighton and we couldn't have been more pleased.

no breakfast for marathoners and disturbed sleep

Posted 14-Apr-2015
My friends and I booked the hotel as we were taking part in the Brighton marathon, each raising substantial sums for charity and paying the costs involved ourselves. When we checked in we were told that the hotel would not be able to support our request for an early breakfast the morning of the marathon and any requested options of having cereal left in our rooms (apparently the dining room is locked overnight) were declined. We were told that there would be no staff at the hotel until 7:30am (too late for us we were leaving 7:45 at the latest) so they couldn't get anything out the kitchen for us until then. However, I found out later that there is night staffing the premises. I don't understand why he couldn't have arranged cereal, fruit and coffee. Also, I have since read another review which states the hotel arranged breakfast for them The night prior to the marathon we were awoken and 2:50 am with neighbours having a party in their garden. Clearly good sleep (like a good breakfast) is important for a marathon. I asked the night staff if they could ask the neighbours to be quiet. At 3:50 I eventually opened the window and asked the people to be quiet myself, the apologised and moved inside, which leads me to suspect that the night porter did little about it. Alas the night after the marathon we were again woken by the same neighbours at 4am. Perhaps a downfall of being in one of the back single rooms. These rooms are small, but well proportioned and fine. really wante

Friendly staff but tired room & tiny bathroom!

Posted 09-Apr-2015 on Hotels
Hotel was OK but not anywhere near as good as I had expected. One the second day our breakfast never showed up. There is no phone in the room, so no way to find out where it got to... However, the staff are very friendly. Hotel interior is looking a bit tired now, cracks in the ways, patches on the ceiling etc. The worst thing about the hotel is the bathrooms, they are so SMALL. You practically have to stand over the loo to have a shower! Not remotely luxurious, and there is no way two people can share the bathroom! The windows have shutters, but no curtains, so no black out, meaning you wake up as soon as the sun rises. We would not stay here again.
