“Good Value”
Bathroom was a litte small and dated was the only negative thing. Clean & comfortable in great loaction for Downtown activities. Definitely would stay again.
“Definitely would stay again!”
This was my first time staying in the downtown Detroit area, and I was not sure what to expect of that particular area, in terms of safety. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and nice the streets are, surrounding the hotel. I felt perfectly safe parking my car on the street in front of the Milner. Walking in, the staff was very welcoming. The lobby was clean and I was delighted by the building's historic charm. The elevator was fast going up. Later on, as we were leaving to go out, someone must've been holding up the elevator so we decided to take the stairs. The stairwells are clean and well-lit. Our room was a standard, with a full-size bed. It was squeaky but comfortable and plenty roomy for two skinny girls. The temperature was just fine as well. My only complaint out of the whole experience was upon checkout. The man at the concierge was doing a crossword puzzle, and when I approached the counter he was rude and dismissive. He claimed to have lost the invoice that I signed upon check-in, and would not give me a receipt of any kind. It just struck me as irresponsible and uncaring.
“worth it”
its really great for the price! would definitely go back if in detroit.
“it was ok”
the hotel overall was ok my room was a bit small in which most hotels i spend my vacation where as my room was much bigger but just remember this is an older hotel i believe built up in the 1920"s maybe earlier.if your really a fan of old landmarks than this hotel is for you, room service is good any problems just tell the front clerk.not to mention your near greek town all the restaurants are close also the ball park the peoples mover which is an eleveted train so you have everthing you need.plus you have the bus service which are out dated if you don't mined that takes you to the malls and museaums some people complain about the hotel thats if you spend a lot of time in their i was out most of the time,so if your their to go out and enjoy the site that this hotel is a great location.and i spoke with front dest and they say they are going to do some remodeling.good choice here.
“Great Location for Game/Very Convenient to Everything”
We were in town for the Bears vs. Lions game and stayed at the Milner. Yes, the room was small and the elevator was a bit slow (it is an older hotel), but we loved it. Parking just across the street, two restaurants within one block (very good beer) and the People Mover within a block or two... excellent! We plan to stay there again when we are in town.
“Awesome”
We've stayed here 3 times. We won't stay anywhere else while in Detroit. It's close to everyrhing including Greektown, and right across the street from the stadiums.

“Great location”
Although this is an extremely old hotel, everything was fine. Great staff and free breakfast. Plus it is in the perfect location downtown
“Great price for the location”
This hotel was decent for the money. In a safe downtown Detroit location this hotel is within walking distance of Comerica Park, Ford Field, Hockeytown Cafe and the Fox Theatre. Parking is easy... $5 next to the Hotel but no in/out access though. This hotel is old but it seemed fine to me; so if you're looking for a clean place to rest your head with cable and free broadband internet you can't go wrong. Easy to get to from I-75, I-375 and I-94 Easy to find.
“If the New York's Chelsea Hotel was in Detroit it would be the Milner.”
The Milner is a no frills, low-end boutique hotel in a classic turn of the century building located just steps from Comerica Park, Ford Field, and the Joe Louis Arena. if you're in Detroit to catch the Tigers, Lions, Pistons, or Red Wings, I can't think of a better place to stay. Location is definitely the Milner's greatest selling point. Although if you like old hotels a first time stay is must. We sat in our room and just imagined what the walls would say if they could talk, being witness to nearly 100 years of the comings and goings of travelers and occupants. With that said, the water pressure in the shower was less than great, the mattress on the bed was past its prime and was made up with a bottom sheet that was either too big or too old to hold any elasticity. It kept pulling off during the night. Although we loved staying at The Milner for the first time, unless we're back in town for sporting events we're probably going to seek out something a little more comfortable.
