“Great value for money”

The staff were extremely helpful and we enjoyed our stay. Suggest the breakfast items could be varied slightly more each day, but the food quality was excellent. Suggest the 3 euro charge for beach loungers should be waived for guests.

Area recommendations
The British cemetery. A true oasis of peace and tranquillity, yet only a few metres from the hubbub and bustle of Corfu Old Town. The greeting from the gardener / curator is informative of the history, and his love for his work in the beautiful garden is self-evident.

“Hotel Dassia Chandris - di fronte ad un giardino con gli ulivi ed una spiaggia meravigliosa,”

L'Hotel, situato nella baia di Dassia, ha una location meravigliosa: prato verde, ulivi, mare pulitissimo e una leggera brezza che rinfresca. Sconsiglierei le camere che danno sull' interno, perchè fronteggiano una strada molto trafficata (comunque ci sono i vetri doppi). Di fronte all'hotel ci sono taverne, per uno spuntino veloce, e negozi, almeno per le cose indispensabili. Corfù citta è comunque a 10 Km. L'Hotel Dassia fa parte di un complesso più vasto, essendo confinante con l'hotel Corfù Dassia, che mi è sembrato di standard leggermente superiore, ma che non era presente tra gli hotel selezionabili. L'hotel propone, volendo, una situazione all inclusive (animazione, etc.). Noi lo abbiamo usato solo per il pernottamento e la prima colazione, preferendo visitare l'isola. Qualche volta ci siamo fermati più a lungo alla spiaggia dell'hotel, ed è stato bellissimo, all'ombra degli ulivi. Il cibo è di uno standard medio, le cose servite al bar della spiaggia appena passabili. Lo consiglierei soprattutto per la posizione magnifica e per la cura degli esterni: giardino, ulivi, aiuole fiorite. La spiaggia privata non è mai troppo affollata e c'è spazio (e lettini) per tutti. E' comodo anche per la vicinanza ad altri luogji di interesse. Per gli spostamenti si può noleggiare un mezzo (l'hotel ha un desk apposito). Noi abbiamo noleggiato l'auto in aeroporto, dato che i taxi sono perennemente in sciopero! Oppure scegliere i mezzi pubblici.

Area recommendations
La Baia di Dassia (nord di Corfù) è da preferire perchè il mare è splendido, c'è sempre una leggera brezza e la città di Corfù non è distante. Anche la zona appena a sud di Corfù (Benitses) ha un mare meraviglioso, ma le spiagge sono più corte e spesso vicino alla strada grossa che attraversa l'isola. La sera a Corfù città se non si arriva per tempo si resta imbottigliati in lunghe code, alla ricerca di un parcheggio. Imperdibile il Forte Vecchio, anche per la vista che si gode dall'alto. Vedere assolutamente il palazzo di San Michele e S. Giorgio, sede di un affascinante museo di arte orientale, ci sono anche i locali in uso al governo britannico, ancora con gli arredi originari. La zona vicino al Forte ha un bellissimo giardino centrale (Esplanada), ma anche i bastioni dal lato del Forte hanno un bellissimo giardino. Vedere l'Achilleion, fatto costruire da Sissi, l'imperatrice d'austria quale tributo all'antichità classica. Vedere anche, nella penisola di Kanoni, la Villa Mon Repos (ove è nato Filippo di Edimburgo) e la splendida chiesetta di Vlacherna. Ovunque nell'isola vi sono taverne, che offrono da mangiare. Molte ormai offrono solo cibo "turistico" e molto poco locale. però cercando bene si trova ancora dell'ottima cucina. Assaggiare il polpo ai ferri. L' insalata greca è ovunque freschissima e saporitissima. Mettono origano ovunque (è molto profumato). Andare nell'entroterra (Makrades) e procurarsi un po' di olio locale e di miele di timo: è squisito!!!

“bâtiment à renover d'urgence”

les chambres situées sous le restaurant sont à éviter impérativement (bruit des chaises trainées sur le sol) nous avons du déménager. eau non potable dans les chambres. du jamais vu ! petit déjeuner du départ "oublié" malgré n/commande de la veille au soir. Très belle ue sur la mer.

demander les chambres vue mer, mais surtout loin du restaurant.
