“Old World Charm”
This hotel was perfectly located. With a view of the Fox River our suite was ideal. The only real negative was that there is no room service for breakfast and the hotel continental breakfast is very basic. If you like sweet rolls and cereal, it's ok. We were in St. Charles for just a couple of days and didn't have a car. We found antique shops just a few blocks from the hotel and charming restaurants. We took a cab one day to the neighboring town of Geneva where numerous boutique shops and antique stores provided hours of fun. The cab ride was $10 -- a bargain. The hotel restaurant was pleasant but food was average at best. The hotel itself is a wonderful look into the past with fabulous decor and warmth. We loved it! Not sure why other reviews were negative. We would definitely recommend this hotel as the best option in this area.
