“Close to USC & downtown, older but ok.”

“Disappointed”
I have not lived in SC for about 30 yrs. This hotel was there when I was a kid. They really need to update. The room smelled bad. The wall paper was dirty, fraying and falling off. This is a real shame, because the setting is beautiful. They really need to put some money into the hotel. Reception was ok, but not super friendly. They had a continental breakfast that was in an old room with dirty curtains that looked to be well over 30 yrs old. It's just old!
“cheap and ok”
the drive through town was a little worrisome, but after getting through that, the city looks much better. It is a cheap no frills hotel. But for the price, I was pleased. It has an inground pool and free breakfast. Beds were comfortable. The river walk is a must see! Really beautiful! Stayed for Fort Jackson graduation. A little out of the way, but not a bad drive.
“Great choice for the money”
The hotel is older but the rooms are fine. It is a no frills hotel right on the river and the area is decent. If you're going to a USC baseball game, it's an excellent location. Just take the 5 to 10 minute walk across the bridge and you're there. For the money, this is an excellent choice. If you want all the bells and whistles with the new hotels, then spend more money.
“Adequate”
It was a very adequate experience. You get what you pay for, but it wasn't especially bad or anything. Clean and pretty comfortable bed.
“Gross”
The only positive thing I can say about the hotel is that it is very, very, close to the University of South Carolina and downtown Colombia. Other than that.... The hotel really is just gross. Its just kinda run down. That and when I took a shower in the morning, the bathroom filled up with water. It was like trying to get ready in a swamp. I'd only stay there again if I was broke. If you can afford a more expensive hotel, then go there.
“not impressed”
The room smelled like a public restroom. No smoking room with a butt can outside near AC. Bed was hard as a brick. I won't pick rooms with a 2 rating again.
“Would not go back”
The outside of this hotel is so poorly lit and the appearance of the hotel was such that you would have thought that it was abandoned. Despite a very cheap rate, there was only one other vehicle in the parking lot on the night that we stayed there. There were fixtures in the room that didn't work and you had to unplug some things to plug something else in. The wallpaper was peeling off in places. I was very uncomfortable staying there, did not feel safe due to the darkness and isolation of the parking lot.
“Not impressed,”
This hotel needs many renovations and updates!
“Gag. Go to a park for flowers; do not stay here”
Gag. Office reeks of 40+ years of smoke, probably since the hotel was built sometime in the 1960s. Pillows made of plastic (!?). Sheets and bedspreads the items that other hotels throw away -- made worse by seeing the heaping bins of linens that sat for at least two days in an open area near the stairs, under a roof but still outside during two days of storms and high humidity. Bathroom towel had hair on it from room attendant or ? - long and black anyway while mine and my daughter's are short and other colors. Key cards take specific thumb action to work: we managed it correctly 1 time out of 20 tries. Only one chair in room with two beds. Stay away despite the photos of beautiful grounds.
