Cute hotel next to beach

Posted 04-Aug-2014
We had a room with a superb view of the beach (had to go up some narrow steps to make it up there though). We really enjoyed the room and general location right on the Main Street and steps away from the beach. However the wifi didn't work and there was no real free parking. We were able to find some parking so it worked out, but it wasn't with the hotel.

A good jumping off point

Posted 24-Jul-2014
The ad said there was free parking at the hotel, which is true, except it's street parking and we arrived on a national holiday so there was nowhere to park and the hotel was not able to provide parking. The Internet never worked in our room either. Breakfast was lovely but overpriced. The location was great and the room itself was clean.

Welcoming town centre hotel.

Posted 23-Jul-2014
Pros: Location, staff and value for money.
Location: Excellent location with shops and restaurants, the beach with the remains of the Mulberry Harbour and an informative museum all close by.
We stayed for one night as a stopover between the ferry and Brittany, and wished we could have stayed longer. The location is ideal for the beach, museum and town centre, with free overnight parking just across the road. Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. The stairway to the upper rooms could be an issue for those with large suitcases or mobility problems.

Pros: Small, friendly and in the middle of the village
Cons: There is no lift and the stairs are narrow but to be honest I didn't have an issue with it .
In the centre of Arromanches, parking can be limited during the day but not a problem in the evenings, staff are pleasant .

Great sea view

We were given a room at the top of the hotel which was a somewhat tortuous route up narrow winding stairs to get there but worth the effort. The room was situated on the front corner of the hotel with a great view overlooking the coast. Bathroom looked as if it was newly tiled but the sink was very slow to drain away (but did eventually!). Hotel owners friendly and helpful and breakfast was very satisfying. Would stay there again if ever in Arromanches overnight. The Hotel is a shorter walking distance from the Musee de Debarquement and slightly longer uphill walk to the 360 degree D-Day ("100 Days") cinema - both very educational and well worth a visit if you are in the area for a few hours.

This hotel is basically an old house. Very well maintained. Had heard restaurant was good but open times was sporadic probably because it was not peak season. Location great to beaches. Felt totally safe there. Wifi was not good. Never could get it in the room but could if u went downstairs yo bar area. Very friendly staff.

Great old town charm.

Cons: Wifi transmission
Arromanches is a quiet coastal town, central to D-Day historical sites if that's what you're there for. Hotel d'Arromanches makes an excellent base to tour from. This hotel is right in the heart of it. 1 min walk from hotel to beautiful beach great for walking at low tide or strolling along the seawall at high tide. Public parking available on adjacent block; free from 7pm to 9am. Nice hike up the hill to the east with fantastic views from the top. Very nice to walk around, day or night and soak up the ambiance of the old town. Shops and other restaurants in the same area within a moments walk. Hotels rooms and dining room nice and clean and still appear newly finished. I'm no food expert but enjoyed the meals there alot including the excellent continental breakfast. Staff very friendly. The only issue I had was that we could not connect to the WIFI. Owner explained that the solid masonry construction of the old building and the metal panel finish of the hotel kitchen blocks much of the signal. This is not a flashy downtown hotel but if you like a clean, quiet stay and old world character I highly recommend Hotel d'Arromanches!!

Excellent Hotel with fantastic view of Gold Beach

Posted 30-Jul-2013
Pros: View and excellent service. Very reasonably priced but excellent meals. Especialy frriendly. I left my insulin in the bar but this was kept safe.
Cons: A bit of grouting in shower by nothing else as you would destroy the character.
Location: History and scenery. Just look it up on line!!!!
This hotel is independently run by a family who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The meals were superb and even though we did not speak french very well they make a big effort speak in english. It overlooks the Day Beach with the remains of the Mulberry harbour and is fascinating place to stay. I have an artificial leg so negotiating the narrow spiral stairs to the room needed a bit of care but I would ask for a lower room if I was more disabled. The room had a fantastic view of the sea front though. The bathroom is a little tiered but all worked very well. We enjoyed it much more than the 4 star hotel we had stayed at in Paris a few days previously!

Good base to explore Normandy

Posted 22-Jul-2013
Pros: Convenient, clean, large rooms (for pension type hotel) nice bar
Cons: Stairs are steep and narrow.
Location: Right at the british landing sight of Gold beach and within easy distance of all D-Day sights.
The hotel is right in the center of the little town of Arromanches - one block back from the beach - plenty of free parking nearby -hotel staff is friendly and the room was clean and fairly large - only problem was it was at the top of two very narrow and steep staircases. - I would certainly stay here again and the hotel is within walking distance of everything in this seaside town and all of the Normandy D-Day sights and the town of Bayeaux

Pros: friendly staff/family
Location: The town is an amazing location
The hotel has the feel of a bed and breakfast. We stayed in a room in the attic and although the stair case was a bit tight, the room was wonderful. The staff/family are very gracious and accommodating. The town itself is an amazing setting. The hotel and the town do close up quite early but I guess that's not unexpected in a small town setting. When all the other eating esablishments closed the pub just up the street was open and the owner was kind enough to feed us.
