Went to bayeux for D day tour and stayed the night at this bed and breakfast. Garden was beautiful and close to trainstation and next to excursion point for tours. Breakfast was well done and enjoyed it tremendously.

Family Run B&B

Posted 03-May-2014
Pros: Great Location close to everything and easy to find by car
Cons: soap in the shower, shampoo, tissues and additional toilet paper
Location: The beaches of Normandy,
The family is helpful and resourceful, giving out excellent recommendations for food, day trips etc. The room was large for European standards although it was up a rickety staircase. They did ask if I needed a lift. It is done in shabby chic and is quaint but worn. The lack of soap, tissues etc was chintzy. Breakfast was the same every day.

Very convenient location to see all the sights in Bayeux which is a lovely medieval French town. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful. Great for anyone wanting to do the Normandy tours.

Would Not Return

Pros: Pear jam at breakfast - delicious! Easy drive to D-Day sights.
Cons: Urine odor & animal excrement. Shower stall with no area for soaps, dirty kitchen counter, floor, hair in sink, trash left in cans from previous guest.
Location: Beayeux is a lovely town. Close to D-Day Beaches. Good restaurants, nice shops, outdoor market to experience French culture.
Prior to arrival there were several pleasant, engaging & informative emails from the owner. We were looking forward to and anticipating an enjoyable visit. We were graciously welcomed for our 3 night stay by the owner's son....along with an overwhelming odor of cat urine inside the guest quarters. The scent continued to permeate and seemed to gain strength when the heater was on. Crossing the court yard to the breakfast room required some careful navigation as the brick walkway was dotted with animal feces. The dining table was indeed lovely, set with sterling serving pieces carefully placed. The same young man was there and he had prepared our meal of croissants, cheeses, crepes, fruit, coffee, juice and the best pear jam I have ever tasted. It was all very wonderful until he emerged from the kitchen with a fresh pot of coffee in hand...and a little kitten perched on his back. Very cute, but I have a serious issue with food servers prepping meals while handling animals!! When the owner presented herself, she inquired about our cash payment. This was troubling, as I had a receipt from Expedia stating the hotel had been paid. There was no indication that the room was reserved and held on my credit card and I was expected to pay cash Euro's at time of arrival. When I nicely explained my confusion and asked the owner for clarification, she became verbally abusive, lashing out and yelling at me. A simple explanation was needed but instead I was berated and called names. It was an upsetting and off-putting experience. A needless reaction by the owner. We paid her in cash and will never, ever return.

Charming B&B with Good Location and Value

Posted 29-Oct-2013 on Hotels.com
I stayed in the SHON room, which had a clean and comfortable bed and bathroom good for two people. The communal breakfast at a big table in the dining room was fine and hosted by Myriam(?), a friendly and talkative host who asked about my itinerary and provided very helpful directions. It was tricky getting our small rental car (VW Golf) through the courtyard's gate, even with the side mirrors pulled in, but one of the host's sons backed the car in for us like an expert. The charming part comes from the host and her small menagerie of cute dogs, chickens, and cats that roam the courtyard and garden. Overall, not luxurious, but very good value for the price and location. I would stay there again in the future.

A Beautiful Home with Wonderful Owners

Posted 15-Oct-2013
This lovely home, with wonderful garden area, is close to the center of Bayeux and all it has to offer. More importantly Myriam and her family keep a clean, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. I had a medical issue while staying at this great B&B and the family went above and beyond to help me. My trip to Normandy was memorable because of the wonderful people running the Aggarthi

Right around the corner from the best spots

Posted 02-Oct-2013 on Hotels.com
While our room was a bit awkward with sloping ceilings that made for an awkward transit of the room, everything else about our stay was perfect. The host spent a lot of time detailing all the the Normandy D Day museums and places to visit, with an itinerary that let us know what to see and what to skip. The inn itself if right around the corner from the Bayeux Tapestry museum and not far from the town church. Aggarthi is very quaint, with a good breakfast either in the garden or in the indoor dining area. There are many restaurants, shops, bakeries, etc within easy walking distance. We would stay there again, just not in that particular room.
