“Should not be classified as a 3 star hotel.”
Fairly dissapointed with the Holiday Inn during our stay, not normal for a Holiday Inn to have its name associated with this type of property. The rooms were very small and aged, bathroom door handle was broke, really needed to shut the doors to the hall because if you let it close on your own it would not shut properly and could have people walk in. It appears that this was probably an old hotel chain the Holiday Inn had purchased with little to no renovations completed. Should not be a 3 star rating. Should not complain too much because the price was right as I booked through the unpublished rates via expedia.
“Pleasantly surprised!”
We liked this hotel Alot. Got a great price and were pleasantly surprised that our kids got free breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant. At first glance of the menu I thought the restaurant was kind of pricey, but the food was awesome and the portions were huge, so we opted to eat there instead of the crowded city restaurants for quite a few meals. We booked a bed and sofa bed combo by accident, and our kids weren't happy. But the hotel had no problem switching us to a room with 2 beds. The beds were only doubles (I would prefer queens) and they were not the most comfortable, but we've definitely had worse. Overall good value and service...we will surely be back.
“Best service I have seen in awile”
Staff was well versed in making you feel at home. We had checked in late - 9:30PM and had great room service for the kids as well as lounge fare for the parents. Everything right up to the breakfast the next morning was very prompt and not the usual small portions everybody else seems to be providing in their restaurants these days. Room was clean and well laid out except the coffee service which had to be brought out of the closet to be utilized. Lots of parking and it was located just where we needed to be in Calgary for that day. This was the second stay here for me and will definitely come back when in Calgary.
“Excellent value, wonderful stay”
Our stay at the Holiday Inn on Macleod Trail south was worth every cent we paid. The front desk staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful, our room very clean and comfortable. The kids had a lot of fun in the hotel pool, which was nice and warm, unlike some hotels where you'd swear their pools were filled with glacier runoff. We ate breakfast and dinner at the on site restaurant. The food was good and because both of our children are under 12, they ate for free. It's not often you can feed a family of 4 a good meal for $24. We found the location to be convenient for shopping and going to attractions within the city of Calgary, nothing was too great of a distance away. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and will be back again.
“Will be back for SURE”
The rooms were very clean looking and smelling. The bathrooms were spotless. And the beds were good and firm and we go lots of sleep and didn't want to get out the beds. We wanted to switch to a 2 bed room as we had our grandchild with us the second night. No problem! We got a great room again the second night. The pool was lots of fun...at bit cool the first day, but they heated it up after our request for a warmer swim. No problem! The food was great in the restaurant and the service again was always there to top off what ever we needed topped off...kid are free too! :) Would stay there again for sure!
“Close to Pengrowth Stadium & Downtown Calgary.”
Nice place to stay. Restaurant & bar closes way to early.
“First and last time I go there”
I used to stay in Holiday Inn while travlling oversea's or in Canada, this time I was not satisfied with services, breakfast takes more than 30 minutes to be ready on your desk, no wireless internet signal, although I paid (backage) flight and hotel, they charge me 74 Dollars, and no receipt was given to me? strange, Alex
“Lobby with no elevator”
Nice hotel with simple, clean rooms, like you would expect from a Holiday Inn. But I was disappointed with the fact that there was no elevator from the main lobby and we had to carry all our suitcases down several stair to get to our floor. If we had been on a different floor then it would have been an even bigger ordeal. I was also disappointed that breakfast was not included. We were offered a breakfast voucher that wouldn't have paid for two adult meals. Honestly, I regularly choose Holiday Inn Express because it removes the hassle of a hard to find, over priced breakfast. The hotel is centrally located and it was easy to get around to all of our activities. The kids had fun in the pool too (but there was always a towel shortage at the pool). Overall, our stay was pleasant. The staff was friendly and helpful.
“Never go back again”
we were placed in a room next to an elevator or something. Can't sleep all night because of the stupid noise of this elevator. We called to ask for another room, and they refused us. The front desk people are not nice either. Don't ever go there. Besides, the rooms are old.
“We left after the first night”
We have stayed at Holiday Inn hotels before and hoped this would be as good as the others. Upon arrival in our room we noticed that the window - which led out onto the roof top - would not close properly and had no way what so ever to lock. There were renovations being done outside and the workers equipment was right outside of the window. We asked if they could fix the window so we would feel safe leaving our things there and they sent someone up with a piece of wood to stick in the window frame. When we left for dinner we were greeted by a cloud of marijuana smoke coming from one of the suites. We ended up staying the first night as we couldn't get our money back but promptly moved to another hotel just down the street. Much nicer hotel. Worth spending the extra few dollars per night. I would definately not recommend this hotel if you like to feel secure where you stay.
