Rooms

Boxcar Willie Inn's 91 guests rooms, named for famous American train routes, all feature luxurious Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses, mini-fridges, coffee makers, air conditioning and climate control. Microwaves are available for a nominal fee. Bathrooms include shower/tub combinations, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. Irons and ironing boards are available on request.

Starlight Queen Roos, with two queen beds, sleep up to four guests. Zephyr King Rooms, each one king bed, sleep one to two guests and boast romantic non-woodburning fireplaces.

A limited number of Silver Palm Pet Rooms is available. Pets dine from designer dishes with matching mats and receive a daily gourmet canine cookie and a take-home toy. These are only for dogs--no cats please--and dogs must weigh a maximum of 15 pounds. Two dogs maximum per room. Guests bringing pets should make sure they have booked a Silver Palm Pet Room and not a people-only room.

All rooms are accessible via exterior corridors and are non-smoking. Housekeeping is provided.

“Nice hotel for the price. Off the main highway. Emplotees very friendly .”

A nice older hotel. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was ok. Dinner area was small but, the biscuits and gravy/ fresh made waffles were excellent. Parking was close to our room.Easy drive to Branson attractions.

Area recommendations

Shopping was great. Do not miss seeing Dicks 5 and dime in downtown Branson. Best shows Presley's, Liverpool Legend, Hobknobers

“Loved Branson!”

The hotel was just right. Not too fancy and not trashy. Was perfect for the time spent in the room. Beds were comfortable and shower was great. Would stay here again.

Area recommendations

I was perfectly content with the neighborhood. Very quiet. There was a pool and hot tub too. That was nice and so were all the people.

Events and shows

Events and shows were awesome. No bad ones. Saw Mickey Gilly and he is great as ever. Saw the wax museum impressive!! Dolly Partons stampede show was excellent.Kids would love it too. Having dinner with no silverware was too cool.

“Bad and good news, go back? No.”

Fridge didn't get cold. Broken chair. Noisy A/C but it worked. Stopper in sink and tub broken. Maids arrive at 4 Pm to clean. Awful, pre-made eggs for breakfast. Terry got us terrible seats at Dixie Stampede. The ice machine broke and stayed broke for 300+ rooms leaving one functional. But the employees were friendly, the beds were good, TV worked, and there was no train or traffic noise. There were cheaper motels and lots of vacancies.

Area recommendations

The many large motels in the area with Boxcar Willies are fine as are the ones on Hwy 248, some not so good on Hwy 76.. Old town Branson is not so good.

When to go

Go in the Spring/Fall. Summer heat/humidity yucka.

The main drag, Hwy 76, is jammed at times during the day/early night.

Dick's in old Branson and Hughes Bro.

Dining

Lots of eating places but skip Charlies except for dinner. IHOP ok for late meals. Surprisingly, Golden Corral was good but the home cooking place across the street was not.

Family-friendly activities

Lots(!) of kid friendly businesses and activities. Bring money. We never saw the police and the kids were friendly, low crime per a local. Hotel pools are waders. miniture golf, water parks, little cars, ice cream places.

Events and shows

See the 60s musical at the Chevelle. Skip Tony Roi(fake Elvis). Six and the Duttons were ok, professional. Dixie Stampede was good but only if you sit on the 2nd or 3rd row. Get tickets at eating places in Branson for discounts, never pay full price. Skip Terry's ticket service. Titanic was good, Wax museum a dud, and Ripley's was unusual as expected.

“41ST ANNIVERSARY TRIP”

We were extra pleased with the accomodations. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were large,nice, and clean. Hot breakfast was good and included with the room. We highly recommend Boxcar Willie Inn and expect to stay there on our next trip to Branson.

“17R - Great value”

This is an older motel but very well maintained. Breakfast was one step above a continental breakfast. Adequate but not great. The location was great. It is off the strip in a quiet area but convenient to yellow route around strip. We had problem with a noisy A/C but it was immediately corrected as soon as we notified the front desk. Great value and nice staff.

Any area off route 76 (strip). Too much traffic to get to and from hotel if it is on the strip.

“It was good but will stay elsewhere next time.”

The pool, which we much looked forward to at the end of a hot day was freezing cold. I'm talking so cold that I couldn't even get in it. The hot tub was nice and the front desk gave you towels for pool use which was also a bonus. We had to park far away from our room and the breakfast wasn't all that great. However, the employees were very nice, the room was super clean, and the tv was in good condition. I just think I'll stay at a different place next time where I can actually enjoy the breakfast and pool.

“More than I expected!”

The Boxcar Willie in was a great place to stay of the money. Maid sevice was excellent. She even left the tiny scorpion from my step-sons candy on the table. (He forgot to put it up and would have been so upset.) The pool was nice and the breakfast wasn't to bad either. Forgot my make-up wipes too and wouldn't you know it there was a new one for me everyday. We really enjoyed our stay here and I will recommend this place for anyone going to branson.
