“Excellent value”

This was great value for money - reasonably sized rooms, space to unpack, lots of hot water, quiet and reception staff friendly. Super position for sightseeing and local restaurants. The only negative was the breakfast. They ran out of croissants and bacon every day, and once we had to wait for a table to become free. However I would definitely recommend it for an excellent value base while visiting Berlin.

“Excellent location”

Friendly, safe hotel at a convenient location on a quiet street near a major transportation hub. Tourists should also explore the intimate neighborhood and excellent/reasonable restaurants to the south of this location, away from Kurfurstendamm's tourist traps to the north. This historic hotel could use minor upgrading of some interior finishes and fixtures, but for those who spend most of their time exploring the city this is not an issue. The staff is very accommodating and helpful.

Area recommendations
For those who missed the NYC East Village scene in its heyday 30 year ago, areas of Oranienstrasse and east end of Kreutzberg bring back the excitment with a Berliner twist.

“Good location but the hotel over booked and tried to send me somewhere else”

The hotel is in a good central location and nice area of Berlin. The reason for booking this hotel was to be close to my daughter who is living there at present. When I arrived, the hotel receptionist said they were overbooked and tried to send me somewhere else. I stood my ground and insisted they find me a room as they had already taken my money and confirmed my reservation. They did find me a room which was sufficient and comfortable but the hotel is in need of a refurbishment as it is old and tired looking. As a single traveller, this could have felt intimidating escpecially as I do not speak German and athough the receptionist clearly spoke English, he would not after I complained.

“Quite small room, but otherwise perfect”

The room was surprisingly small, but otherwise the place was excellent and cheap. Price-quality-ratio was excellent. If you want a good quiet place to sleep that's close to public transportation stations and the gay district, this is a hotel worth considering.

When to go
At easter time there are lots of gay fetish parties nearby.

“Would definitely go back!”

The hotel is in a great location - very close to the S- and U-bahn and near one of the major shopping boulevards. The room was large, the bathroom very clean and the beds were very comfortable. They had information about Berlin in the room as well, including maps, which was very helpful. My only complaint was that the internet was 10 euro/day, which I thought was pretty expensive; however, it meant I had an internet-free vacation which was lovely. Overall, great place. Would definitely stay there again!

“Inexpensive Hotel in Great Location”

Hotel employees were very nice. Location was excellent (1 block from KuDamm and U-bahn). Room was very clean. Water pressure was great. Definitely would have like to have a coffee maker in the room. Overall stay was very good.

“Good Hotel. Excellent location.”

A good hotel occupying the upper floors of a street of shops and restaurants. Despite this the location is quiet at night. Breakfast a bit expensive but several bars & cafes in the street offer a cheaper alternative Hotel is in a very convenient location just off Kurfurstendam which is one of the main shopping streets of Berlin. It is also near to the Zoological Gardens Main Railway and Underground stations. Lots of good restaurants nearby. LIDL supermarket almost opposite so purchasing last minute refreshments is easy and cheap.

Area recommendations
Recommend the purchase of a Berlin Travel card which allows unlimited travel within the city boundary on Mainline, suburban & Underground trains, buses and trams, all of which are very frequent and reliable. The number 100 and 200 buses from Zoo Garden Station provide a frequent connection through Tiergarden to the new Berlin Centre.

“A comfortable and very conveniently located hotel in Berlin - Friendly service”

The hotel did not appear as nice as I expected from the online photos, however it was clear and comfortable. The service staff was mostly friendly and always helpful when I had questions or needed directions. The room was clean and bed very comfortable. The main drawback was no heat (furnace not working) and the outside temperature dropped. I was freezing but appreciated the extra comforter for sleeping.

“Great hotel, if i go back to Berlin i would stay there again.”

Hotel was in a great location, it was on a lovely street where you can enjoy a number of restaurants, so whether you want a meal or just a quiet drink before you head back to the hotel they are perfect. If you venture into the city a bit more it gets expensive to simply ' have a drink' so check before you buy. Hotel was clean, and a perfect size for the two of us. I would go back. Also being as we were students and on a budget we were shocked at how much shops charge for soft drinks, so i would recommend buying some from the local store lidal and taking a bottle of water or something with you. Otherwsie expect to be charged up to 3 euros for a bottle of coke!!

Getting around
Make sure you buy a ticket, if you get caught it will be a on the spot fine, and they are very expensive. We made sure we always had a ticket. The underground is great, clean and quick and will get you around the city with no fuss.
Other
Sunday in Berlin is a bit of a no no, there is not too much open.
