“Would definitely go back”
Very nice hotel, fantastic location set in magnificent grounds. Staff are very helpful and attentive, only let down would be the hotel is looking a little tired now. But on the plus side what the hotel loses in decoration it makes up in cleanliness. I would definitely go back there for another stay
“Faulty tower”
This hotel and its service are really disappointing and distressed. We had an absolutely awful experience this weekend and whilst the actual location and the grounds are beautiful the hotel is a huge led down. The quality of the service is very poor, the decor tired and dirty and the staff disheveled! In fact it was so awful that it was comical and given that we had amazing experiences with the nearby pubs and inns such as the Wheatsheaf, Kings Arms and the Wheelwright Arms we did not mind so much as this hotel is a complete joke. You can stay in much more luxurious, authentic and local places for less where the staff really cares! If you are going away for a romantic weekend please avoid this place at all cost. It has no luxury to it and it has no ambiance and attention to detail.... you have been warned!
“Don't touch it!”
Don't stay here. Our room was 3 star at best. Wallpaper coming off the walls, dirt in the bath, very basic. We ate in the hotel bar on Friday night. The food was of wetherspoons standard but cost £60. It cost us less to eat in Jamie Olivers restaurant the following night. The staff were polite and the breakfast was very good in a lovely room. Not impressed though!
“Cant wait to go back!”
Excellent base for Bath, really lovely hotel, spectacular scenery, friendly, helpfull staff, lovely pool and jaccuzzi beds with breathtaking veiws over the valley, clean, comfy and quiet rooms. Cant wait to go back!!!!
“enjoyed it”
good value hotel. taxi costs £8.00 into bath. Staff helpful
“Pretentious but comfy”
This is a Barcelo Hotel and like others in the Group we found the service standards did not meet their aspirations. The room was comfortable but the restaurant service poor - we were sat for 40 minutes with menus but no drinks and no service and the food was poorly cooked and had to go back (raw pork) Adequate room but Premier Inn standards at Premium prices!!
“LOVELY SETTING”
THIS HOTEL WAS IN A BEAUTIFUL SETTING AND OUR ROOM WAS UPGRADED WITHOUT US EVEN ASKING. ALL THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY & HELPFUL AND IT WAS A REAL PLEASURE TO STAY FOR 2 NIGHTS. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WAS THAT PRIOR TO THE TRIP I WAS TOLD BY THE HOTEL THAT MYSELF AND FRIEND WOULD RECEIVE A FREE TREATMENT IN THE SPA, WHICH WE THEN BOOKED, ONLY TO BE TOLD ON THE DAY THAT A MISTAKE HAD BEEN MADE AND THERE WAS NO FREE TREATMENT AVAILABLE, HENCE NONE BOOKED. THIS WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING, BUT APART FROM THAT A LOVELY TRIP
“More experienced staff needed!”
Very convenient for the university campus. A well stocked gym with a pool and interesting jakusi beds! Rooms mostly in an annex a short walk from bar and dining facilities but spacious with reasonable parking outside. Main downer is a lack of experienced staff in the restaurant bar and breakfast room. We had to wait ages to be served and heard similar comments from fellow guests. Would suggest dining in Bath!
“Almost there but not quite!”
The facilities at this hotel are second to none, the leisure facilities are excellent. The main "guest facilities" and bar are very good. The views from the hotel over the valley are breath taking and cannot be faulted. Our room for this visit however was not to that standard. Very comfortable, yes, but in need of some TLC. The shower seal on door passed water, more than a leak, it flooded the bathroom! Because of this the bathroom was "damp", the extraction fan was inefficient at clearing the moisture content of the room. ( I am a heating engineer !) That said, the patio and views more than made up for the slight wear and tear issue of the room itself.
“Quirky”
The property is beautiful, but the hotel service is very quirky. I was told by the receptionist that my room was just "a few steps away" and so opted not to have anyone assist me with carrying my bags. I'm quite fit, so figured it wouldn't be a big deal. After walking up a hill and a then a long flight of stairs, I finally found myself at my building. Not an easy trek. I ordered room service twice while there. the first time I waited over an hour for it. The second time they tried to deliver it to another room, so I finally got my tuna sandwich about an hour and a half later. The reception area was not able to send a fax internationally, so by the time I took a cab to the town center in Bath, and paid for the per page service, it cost me almost $100 to send my fax. The rooms are a bit old and a little frayed around the edges, but not bad. The fitness center is very good for a UK hotel and there is no fee to work out.
