Comfort, convenience and location

Posted 03-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
Had an excellent experience staying in Apartment Rambla. The staff that run this apartment are wonderful and very accommodating. First started off with a 3 day booking but ended up staying for 5 days and even had a late check-out. They communicated very well via email and were completely unobtrusive during the stay. The location couldn't be better, right off the Rambla, close to all sights, shopping, the beach, etc. Kitchen is well equipped, the shower is hot, the bathrooms are clean and the beds were very comfortable. Few things that could have been better: very noisy outside the windows of the apartment (basically no sound-proofing at all and some very industrious workers across the street banging and sawing at all hours) and the fridge didn't keep things very cold. All in all though, a great stay!

Comfortable Apartment

Posted 15-Mar-2014 on Hotels.com
Situated in the midst of the main street Las Rambla, it was a very convenient apartment. Getting off either at Liceu or Drassanes could get you to the apartment within a quick 5 minutes walk. Upon reaching the street where it was located, it was slightly difficult to find the gate leading to the courtyard so do be more observant to the instructions in the email. We managed to meet the guy Chris who was to show us the apartment. He was extremely hospitable making sure that everything was in order and even showing us where to visit in Barcelona. The room was extremely big clean and comfortable. It would have been perfect if it was not a shared bathroom. However, this apartment is one of the best we've been.

Great location, but very disapointing rooms

Posted 16-Oct-2013
Pros: Location location location.
Cons: Problem is with expectations. no one ever told us that we will get shared bathrooms. Maybe it's ok for young people, but not for us
Location: Gothic quarter in Barcelona - nothing to add
Location are great, but we expected private bathrooms and instead we received room with shared bathroom. The towels were not cleaned for the duration we stayed. It was very noisy and unfortunately we had very loudy neighbours.

Under 5 minutes walk to the Rambla,15 to the beach

Really good room; bright, clean and airy with a powerful fan. Unfortunately the bed gave us both a bit of a stiff back so something to bear in mind if you suffer with yours!

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Posted 10-May-2012 on Hotels.com
The good: the apartment was close to sights and restaurants. The Bad: because of it being in a crowded tourist area it was very noisy day and night. The Ugly: the passage to the front of the apartment was a courtyard that was filled by 9 PM each evening with at least 5 homeless men that slept near the door of the apartment. This area also stank of urine and feces. We did not feel safe returning late in the evening.

Three minor problems - two major mitigations

Posted 03-Apr-2012
Pros: It is recently refurbished. It looks good and smells good! Everything worked (until the router failure) and everything was kept spotlessly clean.
Cons: The approach through Passeij de Reloj is dilapidated and smelly.
Location: Between the cathedral and the seaward end of La Rambla. Metro stop Drassanes is close by. Next stop is Placa Catalunya with tour and airport buses.
The minor technical problem was the failure of the WiFi router on Tuesday night and the fact that it remained out of action for the remainder of our stay, despite several reminders. This was an important issue for me because I needed to stay in email contact with my students via evening correspondence sessions. One shared accommodation problem was that one of the other guests became ill during one night and vomited all down the corridor and all over the bathroom floor. They made a reasonable effort to clean it up before departing early next morning, leaving the maids to make an excellent job of restoring the previous immaculate standard of cleanliness. The other shared accommodation problem was the very loud level of conversation carried on in the early hours of the morning by some of the younger guests. In mitigation of all this I should add that this period included an major international soccer match (Barcelona/Milan) and a national strike! I should also point out of course that the two shared accommodation problems were not the responsibility of the hotel and, in fact, the excellent response of the maids should count very much in their favour.

Not what it is advertised

Posted 09-Jul-2011
It says it has TV, it says it has internet, it said it had private bathroom. None of these are true. However, the manager is a great guy and helped us out to discover the good places around, but the apartment is NOT WHAT IT IS ADVERTISED and we hated that.

Really nice ,I would stay there again

Posted 02-Dec-2010
The room was part of an apartment ,located on the second floor of 4-5 story biding in the Gothic area of Barcelona. We had a fully equipped kitchen - convenient if you planning to prepare your food there. We only had coffee there in the morning. The room and bathrooms were clean . The lady that met us was nice and friendly and gave us some useful tips how to get around the city. The location is great .I had feeling that I was at some friends apartment that left for the weekend, really authentic experience.
