Correct star rating for a hotel perfectly situated

Posted 22-Apr-2015
Pros: The perfect location and excellent staff.
Cons: At the price, nothing..
Location: Literally 5 minutes from the Acropolis, Hadrian's Gate, the Temple of Zeus etc. 10 minutes walk from the Plaka and all of the restaurants, markets etc
Hotel situated right next to the centre of Ancient Athens. Coming from the airport by 95X bus to Syntagma Square there was only a 10 minute walk to the hotel. We were able to walk to most of the big attractions, for longer journeys the Acropoli Metro station was just around the corner and the City Sightseeing Bus stop was very close by. The hotel, apart from being perfectly situated, had very helpful reception staff. When we asked for a change of room they were very helpful and dealt with the problem immediately. The food was good, with plenty of choice at good prices if you decided to eat-in, the catering staff were friendly and provided excellent service.

Excellent location and very helpful.

Posted 22-Apr-2015
Pros: The free wifi is great and the staff are very helpful.
Cons: The double room could have a double bed rather that two singles pushed together, as the gap in the middle was noticeable.
Location: All of the sites that are a must see are easily within walking distance.
The hotel were excellent at helping us arrange bookings in restaurants and where to park our hire vehicle. The staff were always very helpful and the free wifi is great and reasonably reliable and fast wherever you were in the hotel. The breakfast is one of the better ones included in the room price that we have come across in Europe, but sometimes a bit hit and miss. The room was clean and comfortable. It is a shame a double room does not actually come with a double bed, rather than two pushed together, but I can understand why this might be the case. The location is perfect for seeing all of the sites and getting a good pick of restaurants. There is no reason not to stay here unless you wish to stay in a particularly swanky/posh hotel.

Pros: Location/room/breakfast
Cons: elevator was small and old..We used the stairs
Location: All the major attractions close by foot, or the hop on hopoff bus
The hotel is in a very good location for seeing most of the sites, with the hop on hop off bus very close. Room small, somewhat dated, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great.

Good location but rooms are dim and shabby.

Posted 12-Apr-2015
Close walk to Parthenon, which was great, but the amenities sorely lacked. The rooms were dim and shabby, the elevator shafts tiny, and it didn't have the look or feel of a proper 4 star hotel. The first night our TV was broken and would only play music, and when we walked in the coaches weren't properly arranged. The bathroom also felt relatively small. Most disappointing of all, I think, was how paper thin the walls were. The rooms all face each other and you can hear and see into the hallway and othe rooms. We didn't feel like it was private as a couple. The staff tried to make up for it but this is clearly a much lower end 4 star. We skipped the free breakfast 2 of the 4 days it was so bad.

Good hotel close to everything.

Posted 12-Apr-2015
Pros: The staff, the location and the hotel itself.
Cons: I missed an alarm clock by the bed and a bathroom mat.
Location: Acropolis and Parthenon is just 2 minutes walk away. Do not miss the Acropolis museum as well.
This hotel is a gem. Located within walking distance to all you want to see. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and did everything possible for your comfort.

Nice hotel close to major sites of Athens

Posted 11-Apr-2015
Pros: Close to the Acropolis Museum/Acropolis. Many restaurants and shops nearby.
Cons: Close to the end of our stay we noticed the ceiling in the bathroom had black mold spots which was something that could be improved.
Location: Near the Acropolis Museum/Acropolis and restaurants.
Hotel was easy to find using directions another reviewer had written. We rode the bus from the airport to Synthaga square. Very simple as tickets 5 Euro are purchased near bus stop in front of airport arrivals. Buses run very frequently and takes about 1 hour. You can also ride the metro which we did on the way back to the airport for 8 Euro, it is a little faster but both were very easy to use. Hotel reception was pleasant and provided a bottle of wine and fruit plate for my Expedia status. Room was clean, shower worked very well and we were close to major sites and restaurants/shops. Buffet breakfast was nice with a self service coffee machine and many foods to choose from.

A tranquil space away from the city bustle

Posted 09-Apr-2015
Pros: The location, the friendly staff and the quiet airy room. The breakfast buffet was extensive and had something for everyone.
Cons: The beds were a bit on the firm side.
Location: The hotel was within walking distance of the sites and very close to the Acropolis Metro station and Syntagma Square for the buses, trams and Metro.
We received a genuinely warm welcome from the hotel staff. They made time to find out what we already knew about the area before giving us the "tourist information chat" and as a result the information they gave was useful and relevant to our needs. Our room was at the rear of the hotel and overlooked a courtyard, this may have lacked in beauty but made up for it by being private and quiet, well other than the little sparrows dotting around in the trees. The room itself was light, airy, clean and had a small balcony overlooking the courtyard. The room was simple but provided everything that we required for a comfortable and restful stay. I particularly liked the tea and coffee making facilities available in the room, this was pleasant surprise and quite unusual to find in a European hotel. Nice touch! It was obvious that the hotel had not been refurbished recently but none the less it was well cared for and I would be happy to stay there again. The hotel was away from the busy main roads on a small street close to the Temple of Zeus and the pedestrianised area leading up to the Acropolis, so safe and quiet for a pedestrian. The orange trees lining the street were in blossom and smelled lovely.

A little disappointing

Posted 07-Apr-2015
Pros: The location is the best thing about this hotel. It is very close to the Acropolis and the new museum as well as Plaka and its many shops
Cons: The hotel needs some updating. The furniture and window coverings in the lobby looked very worn and dated. Cleanliness also needs to be addressed
Location: Excellent location. Great restaurants and shopping nearby as well as the Acropolis
After seeing the pictures on Expedia and then arriving at the hotel we were a little disappointed. The hotel appears dated and definitely needs updating. The beds were comfortable but what appeared to be carpet on the floor was really only a plastic coating that appeared to be peeled and stuck to a cement floor. The room was cleaned daily but was clearly not vacuumed daily as there was always things left on the floor. The breakfast buffet was also disappointing as many of the pastries were dry and looked as if they had just been thrown onto platters. The eggs were lukewarm at best and a poor selection of cold meats and cheeses for breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful but clearly this is a hotel that needs some work to achieve anything above a 2 star rating.
