Poor maintenance old hotel in city center

Posted 09-Sep-2014
The only advantage of this hotel is its location!! On arrival we waited for 10-15 min to check in because there were 2 receptionist one busy in the phone and the other was doing nothing but asking us to wait!! The hotel is very old and the pictures in the expedia doesn't reflect the real its actually deceiving. The elevator is very old and small We get upgraded by expedia and they sent us to the superior room which was in the 6th floor And we use the stairs because the elevator doesn't reach it. there were a welcoming drink and we went to celebrate in its balcony which seems to be a closed part of building roof Then we change our mind and decided to stay inside but unfortunately we got shocked when we saw a salamander with us in the room and we spent half an hour searching for it and trying our best to kill it!!!!!!! The furniture is old and the carpet looks to be made from plastic Pillow and bed was acceptable The remote control was very old without buttons. So we couldn't be able to change the channels the breakfast was below average And lastly If your interest is (((all)))about location and price its the best for you

Perfect Location reasonably priced

Posted 20-Aug-2014
Pros: The staff was extremely helpful. Very good room service, reasonably priced.
Cons: The restaurant area, and the choice of breakfast.
Location: It is located in the very heart of Athens near to Acropoli and Plaka, lots to do around.
This hotel is in the perfect location in Athens. Big rooms, nice bathroom. It's also got balconies which come in handy in the evening especially with the heat.Lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Just perfect for a short stay. Also Wi-Fi in the room which is a luxury in Greece.

Great Location, Dated Hotel

Posted 11-Aug-2014
We had two rooms here for 4 nights in Aug 2014. The location is excellent for easy access to ancient sights and market areas. Unfortunately it is very dated. Air conditioning is mediocre and internet spotty. Breakfast wasn't great but that might just be an American viewpoint. We had to use a hotel that provided three twins bed so our selection was limited. In the end, it was basically an extra cot in a typical room. Some of the sheets felt like plastic too. Also don't expect any taxi to be able to find. Plus the outside doesn't look like the photo at all. Not sure how they got that one! All in all, the location, 3 twins in a room, and price made it a viable option for us. But I would hope we could find a better place if we ever go back!

Excellent Location!

Posted 06-Aug-2014
Pros: Location!
Location: Major historic sites are within walking distance. So are restaurants and pedestrian only streets.
The hotel is located on a quiet street, around the corner from the major sites and restaurants. The hotel staff is helpful. Although the rooms are fairly plain, they are clean. The substantial breakfast includes hot and cold selections.

Nice location and people

Posted 30-Jul-2014
Pros: The staff and location were very helpful and location was great
Cons: Purchase a few fans!!
The air conditioning was terrible and the hotel had no fans whatsoever. We had booked two rooms and neither of us got any sleep, which made the trip miserable.

Dear Neurosurgeon, At first we would like to thank you for choosing the Airotel Parthenon for your stay in Athens. According to your recent review about the faulty a/c in the room, we would like to express our deepest apologies for the inconvenience we caused you. However, we are deeply sad for the incident and the fact that we didn't have the opportunity to change your negative view for us. Please accept our truly apologies. Finally, we would like to thank you for your nice comment about our staff and we hope that you would give us another opportunity to welcome you in the future. Convenient Location

Posted 26-Jul-2014
Pros: The location and attentive service of front desk staff
Cons: The rooms can use some remodeling, but hotel rate is appropriately-priced.
Location: The wonders of Greek history are right within your reach (by foot, that is.)
We loved the convenience of being within walking distance to the Acropolis and the new Athens Museum, as well as the shops and restaurants. Front-desk service is fantastic, but the room itself has seen better days..

Perfect location but needs some cleaning!

Posted 16-Jul-2014
The hotel is located one street off the promenade at the foot of the Acropolis and museum! A short walk to Plaka, Hadrian's Arch, and other sites! The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, even walked with my husband to get our car parked several blocks away and drove it to the hotel for our stay. Gave us excellent directions to the airport on departure. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The rooms need some renovation though, especially the A/C....it just doesn't cool well OR dehumidify the rooms! It was like sleeping with a warm wet sheet over you all night. The lock on our sliding door to the balcony was broken so not secure. Also our kids bathroom was disgusting...the entire ceiling was mold covered and the tub grout was black in many places. The floor was covered with a "sunbrella" fabric used on patio cushions...how weird!

Dear Guest, At first we would like to thank you for choosing the Airotel Parthenon for your stay in Athens. We have noted your comment about the level of service you received and would like to express our sincere apologies for the disappointment caused to you. Lapses in our usually high standards of service are indeed rare and we appreciate any feedback that will assist us in further improving upon our standards. May we also take this opportunity to inform you that a renovation in some of our rooms is already scheduled. In addition to your comments about the condition of the balcony door and the a/c in the room, we would like to inform you that this has been strongly pointed out to the maintenance. On the other hand, we were very pleased to read that you were satisfied with the friendly and welcoming staff approach. We are happy of having you as a guest and it will be our pleasure to welcoming you again in the future. Kind regards, Dimitris Koursaris Guest Service Manager
