“Not worth the money”
The hotel is nice, clean and well kept. Here's what you need to know: - No beach - Service is horriable - Should I say this one more time...you have to ask for someone to make you a drink, get you a $10 bottle of water or to order dinner.
“"Great stay at Sugar Ridge"”
The staff at Sugar Ridge is friendly and helpful, and offer a number of services to their guests such as a ride on a golf like cart to your room, which can be a relief with the hilly terrain of the hotel. Although we rented a vehicle and did not make use of the service, they had a shuttle to take guests to the beach, shopping, etc. The grounds are a beautiful and lush garden, with an infinity pool perched at the top of a bluff offering spectacular views. We did not eat at the restaurant, located here too, but heard good things from other guests. The food at the Sugar Club, the other place was very tasty. Our room had a balcony with a fine sea view and a plunge pool, which was nice to come home to after a hot day at the beach. Our room was very clean and comfortable with beautiful dark wood furniture and a modern, tasteful bathroom with a large shower. The only minor issues were that the maid service did not replace lotions and shampoos which we used up, and did not replace sheets until we took them off the bed. This could be their policy though. The location was outstanding for us in that there were several very pretty beaches only minutes away as are some great on the beach eating establishments. Overall the beaches on Antigua have got to be some of the most scenic in the world!! Overall we had a wonderful stay, although you would not choose this hotel if you wanted to stay right on the beach.
“Great Visit I want to go back already!”
I was so impressed with this hotel, the staff were so helpful and friendly (Thank you Kevin, Natasha & Vorn). I enjoyed the yoga, relaxing by the pool and the nightly entertainment in Sugar Club. My only complaint was Carmichael's- was a bit disappointed the food was bland. The food infused with local flavor is much better. I love the island, my favs for Turners & Gibbson for beaches, Jolly Habour is nice but a bit busy it you want quiet the other beaches will do. Could have skipped Shirley Heights, great view but a trap! only one overpriced food vendor and every tourist on the island crammed in one spot.
“Exotic Bliss!”
Locals were extremely friendly. The beaches were heavenly. Taxi service was exceptional--Thanks Gus and John!
“Great resort”
I did have a slight problem with ants or other small insects. But nothing unexpected for the Caribbean. Overall, it was a great stay. The staff was excellent, and I will stay again.
“Away from the fray”
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The management was trying hard to make guests comfortable and respond to any concerns. The layout is clean and modern and the room was very comfortable, with plenty of privacy and a nice view. The two restaurants were both excellent dinner choices (we skipped lunch or ate out.) The breakfast is a worthwhile addition to the reservation, not just a boring buffet but a full selection from menu. We were there over Christmas and the management did a nice job on Christmas eve, although the Christmas dinner itself was a bit of a disappointment (not as good as the standard menu, but pricier.) There was plenty to see and do for the five day stay - we do recommend going on some tours such as Adventure Eco Tour or Paddles as part of your visit. We pitied other tourists at loud, run down hotels we saw along the shore. Locals all said, oh, good choice! when we said where we were staying.
“Very good hotel but still some service teething issues”
Hotel furnishing of high standard. Generally good service with some individual excellent service but lacking in consistancy of delivery. Spa excellent Nearby Jolly Harbour is suffering from vacant business premesis whcih would have provided excellent entertainment within walking distance i.e. main building with casino closed, down, Dog & Tavern bar closed down....but a really nice location just needs to be maximised
“Sugar Ridge Comfort”
We were impressed by all the staff we met; without exception they all put themselves out to make us welcome and ensure we we looked after. The hotel is small enough at 60 rooms to feel personal. Special mention should be of Clayton who when serving meals had an engaging knack of remembering who we were, our room number and our preferences, and it wasn't just us. We couldn't find fault with anything; it all worked just as it said it would and the location, for us, at least, was ideal. Not on a beach, but for us that's a positive factor. We would recommend unhesitatingly and if we return to Antigua we will not even consider staying anywhere else.
“Great time at Sugar Ridge”
My boyfriend and I stayed at Sugar Ridge from June 7-June 13 2010. We had a great time! The room was beautiful with an amazing view to wake up to every morning. We had a room with a pool on the balcony and it was great to dip in after a day at the beach. There is a great little couch/bed outside for naps. We did not stay All-inclusive and it worked out well for us, but if you drink a lot than do it. The breakfast was GREAT, a wide variety of choices and delicious, so filling that we skipped lunch most days grabbing a snack at around 4pm after a day at the beach. The one thing we were worried about was that the resort was not located on its own beach. Vaughn is the hotels driver who has a safari like truck and will take you to most beaches and resturants you would like to go. We loved Turners beach and Fryes and Vaughn set us up with chairs and umbrellas at no charge (we tipped well). If you want to go to St. Johns or FAR beaches, rent a car, we wasted a good deal of money on taxi's those 2 days. St. Johns was OK many cruise ship passengers and expensive shopping. On the opposite side of the island a 100$ cab ride was Half Moon Bay an amazing beach with waves it was absolutely beautiful!! The hotel was new and clean and the food was great at Sugar Club we didn't enjoy Charmichael's as much. The service was great but still needed help in some areas like bringing ice to the room (this was impossible). We had a great time overall and would refer to any friends or family!
“A bit of Paradise on the Caribbean Islands”
Relax, Enjoy and Refresh yourself in Antigua. Beautiful waters in Antigua. Sugar Ridge Hotel is in a safe neighborhood and has an attentive staff that will take you to the neighborhood beaches and local hot spots where you can dip yourself in the smooth sand and the crystal waters of the Caribbean. Sip your beer slowly and squeeze a lime on your partner just for kicks while basking in the sun.

Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda: This English-speaking island was once Great Britains most important Caribbean outpost. Now, the coral reefs that attracted the Royal Navy make the island a paradise for snorkelers and scuba divers, and the winding coastline features numerous secluded, sandy beaches.
