“Lovely Hotel”

Lovely little hotel, the staff were very friendly and our room was warm, comfortable and spacious. We had booked a room with a shared bathroom but when we arrived we had a large en-suite. There was also a hair-dryer, safe, mini fridge, trouser press and a TV with both English and Dutch channels. In addition to this the hotel was in a great location - quiet enough for a good nights sleep but within walking distance from the centre. There are also nice bars and cafes surrounding the hotel and a supermarket about 5-10 minutes walk away which you recieve 10% discount at when you show your room key.

“Steps from the Tram”

The owners were extremely accomodating. The room was large by European standards. We only got one key (well two, one for the room and one for the front door), we had to get the desk to let us in a few times. We didn't lock the room when we were in it. The location on the tram made getting around easy until after midnight. It cost about $12 US for a cab from the entertainment areas after then. There is a cafe/bar downstairs from the hotel. In the afternoon the locals from the university come for a drink, but don't stay late.

“Perfect place to stay!”

It is important that you not go into Hotel Plantage expecting a luxury suite...it isn't that kind of hotel. That being said, this inexpensive hotel has just about everything you'd need...comfortable beds, private bathroom, safe, tv, alarm clock - ours even had two mini fridges! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the location itself is fantastic. Plantage is around the corner from Artis, the oldest zoo in the Netherlands. The cross street, Plantage Midenlaan, puts you right at the 9 and 14 tram line. So convenient! If I ever travel to Amsterdam again, I know where to stay!

“Room 33 at The Plantage”

As you get off tram 9 or 14 from Central Station Walk across from the stop to your left. You'll find the Hotel on the corner. I read the reviews and most are really accurate regarding the size of the hotel and the winding stairs. But I was greeted with a nice smile. I had rm 33, in the attic sort of. It was clean, cozy, and had its own shower, bowl, and sink all in one. There was a little mold growing near the drain, but hey can't see it from my house. I stayed two nights and never turned on the TV. The window in the room provides good ventilation.

“You get what you pay for. If you are looking for a cheap hotel close to everything.”

No complaints at all. You get what you pay for. It has everything you need for a short stay in the 'Dam'. Walking distance to most things, Also trams aplenty. Dont expect 5 star service. How much time do you spend in your hotel anyway? I'll be back.

“Good Hotel”

My girlfriend and I stayed at Plantage Hotel for 1 night in July and were very satisfied. Receptionist was a very friendly Russian speaking man, gave us a lot of useful advices, directions, maps and so on. That's a pity we stayed there on the last night not the first one. Plantage has central location 25 minutes walk from central station, 10 minutes walk to flowers market and 10 minutes to city center. Hotel is located near the Artis zoo. Zoo is not worth visiting but can be a good direction if you asking the way?

“Will return again!”

This was our second stay and we love it! It has it's little unique qualities - no shower curtain or daily room cleaning, coffee is 1 Euro from the machine in the lobby, but for the money, you can't beat it!!! The staff is wonderful, room is comfortable, great location. We will stay there again next year without a doubt!!!!!

“This is a budget hotel, but exactly what was required/expected”

Don't stay here expecting the Ritz. However, in terms of what i was expecting, it matched or exceeded in all respects - and so i have to award the "Extremely Satisfied" rating in each categroy. The place was ideally located, inexpensive, clean and safe. The staff were friendly and helpful and they provided free internet. All-in-all, it was perfect for my one-night stay in Amsterdam.
