Clean and large rooms but definitely not worth the money they charged. It was more like a youth hostel than a full service hotel. Each room had single beds which were very small for one person and I am a small woman. They could be reconfigured but not comfortable when put together next to each other. TVS were not working or remotes were missing. Heat was off in one of the rooms and my son was given a space heater which he was reluctant to leave on while he was gone. The room was a refrigerator. My room was right next to the service desk and change of shift in the earlier hours not very considerate of that fact and spoke loudly to each other for over an hour. Also their toilet was adjacent to my room and I could hear the flushing all night long. Must have to drink a lot of coffee to stay up all night in that front desk! However the staff was quite friendly and tried to be helpful but doesn't seem like the management really cares.

GREAT location and price-quality relationship. Sure, there's no elevator or in-house restaurant, but hey, look at the per-night cost and it more than balances out. Would stay again.

Awful place. Dirty. Rude old man on reception who was unhelpful and unfriendly. No clothes iron or ability to unpack and hang up clothes. Narrow stairway with extreme difficulty to manoeuvre with baggage. No redeeming features. Severely over priced

The staff was very friendly and enjoyable to deal with but our room however was not as we expected. Our room was in the attack of the hotel with no AC and only a small fan to keep us cool. The bathroom had slanted ceilings with what can barely be called a shower.

This hotel seemed to be exceptionally disorganized with multiple contradicting pieces of information related to the location, check in times, and lobby open hours. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until they correct all the misleading information

The hotel is right next to the 9 line which was awesome because it was the one that we ended up needing the most. The staff was amazing and incredibly helpful. It was an older building, and somewhere a draft was sneaking in - so the night was a bit chilly, but it was still a good experience.

Horrible mattresses, cold, frigde didn’t work properly (had to threw out my medicene because of it), tha safe didn’t work, no tv as promised, no hairdryer as promised, window didn’t close properly. Didn’t reach our expectitions.

Paper-thin walls and clientele ruin a great hotel.
Hotel was great other than the clientele and the fact that the walls are paper thin. On the first night we had a couple screaming and fighting each other and the police being called. On the second night we had a room full of guys running, and seemingly jumping, around and shouting between them through the night. The actual hotel is nice. If it wasn't for the paper thin walls which make every footstep reverberate through the building and allow you to hear every conversation, then I would have highly recommended this hotel.

My room had a part corrugated roof so the rain noise work me up all night. It was also behind reception, literally - you had to walk through reception to get to it. Generally OK, but a very basic 2 star at best.

Awful hotel book somewhere else
Paid way too much to stay at this hotel, the staff was rude, she got mad when we were in our room when she needed to clean, next day same thing so she barged in while my sis was changing... when I asked Her to wait at the door. The receptionist also rude, wouldn't help us check into our flight cause our wifi wouldn't work 90% off the time. Paid too much to stay in an attick, bathroom was worse, turns into a pool and u have to dry the floors urself cuz it doesn't go down the drain properly, no curtain, sink toilet shower head side by side. Awful location, and steep stairs that no one will help u when bringing ur bags up even if you aren't capable of doing it urself. Not wheelchair accessible. This hotel was VERY dirty. Hole in the walls, mold everywhere. Stayed may 2017

Clean, good location, cheap!
Easy to find in a good location, easy check-in, beds very comfortable and rooms clean. Reception very friendly and helpful. Needs a bit of redecoration but didn't detract from anything. There is a very narrow and steep staircase to navigate, which may be something to consider for those less able or if you plan on hitting the coffee shops and bars particularly hard! For the price would definitely stay again.

Very nice hotel with great staff.
Fantastic little hotel with very easy going staff whom are really friendly and helpful. Room was nice and clean however our bathroom was built into the roof and I'm 6'2 and had troubles fitting into the shower. As well as the shelving below the mirrors is too close to the sink so washing your face is troublesome. Other than this the hotel was great!

This hotel is not bad, but honestly we found better hotels, more centrally located for cheaper. It is a good 20 minute walk to anything, so unless you have no choice find something better.

More problems than positives
Basic room for longer stay. Room was bare, no bedside tables or places to store clothes, couldn't stand up in the room ceiling was so low and tilted. Tv was old small & didn't work. Needed a fridge & was so old it needed a key to open, door bent, there was no seal keeping the cold in. Had a broken open window that couldn't shut. Moved to another room. I emailed about laundry service that is advertised. Them: yes for 5$. 1st employee: no we don't do that. 2nd: IDK how it works, bring tmrw for maid. We leave it, maid not in, bring back later. Just to leave the bag with the same guy. We arrive home about 10 hours later and the clothes aren't in our room, so we went back down to reception. They were sitting in a bag downstairs, no big deal, we bring them upstairs. We opened the bag and the clothes were STUFFED IN THE BAG UNFOLDED AND MORE THAN HALF WERE STILL WET!!!!! We still got charged the 5 Euro and had to wear wet clothes the next day. I specifically asked if they had a dryer in my email prior to our visit and they said yes so there was NO REASON ANYTHING SHOULD BE WET AND NO REASON WHATSOEVER THAT THE CLOTHES SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN FOLDED. I am SHOCKED that all the clothes were just SHOVED INTO A PLASTIC BAG AND SAT FOR HOURS GETTING WRINKLY.

Little bit far from centre, there is tram 9 goes to near by. Hotel is 2 houses combined. Very steep stairs, if you have room on the top and have lots of luggages... Good luck with that as there isn't any lift. They are refurbishing some rooms. We just stayed for a night, for us it was OK. Very good value for a night.

Nice hotel in the Plantage area
This hotel is in Plantage which is still considered the Central part of Amsterdam but the great thing about it is that the neighborhood is not in the tourists area, so you get a nice relaxed and quiet neighborhood. The tram stop is right around the corner which takes you to the central station. The stairs up to the reception/rooms are steep so if you have heavy luggage prepare yourself. The beds and pillows were really comfy. My only "negative" observation was that room service never took out the trash or did our beds, I'm assuming it's upon request? However we always had fresh towels brought at some point of the day. Overall I recommend this hotel and I'd stay there again

Comfortable hotel near sights
I had a good stay in the hotel. We arrived in the evening and met the hotel manager, who provided a lot of good information. The surrounding neighborhood is quiet, which is good for sleeping. To get to the main sites and restaurants, hop on the tram for two stops to Rembrandtplein, which is very active. I found the hotel very comfortable, quiet, and have no complaints (personally, steep stairs don't bother me).

When we arrived for check in at this hotel, the owner, after checking us in, gave us detailed maps and information about everything to do in the city. He could not have been more helpful. It is a no frills hotel but the rooms have everything you need and the bathrooms are nice. One word of warning, the rooms are up narrow windy staircases so if you have trouble getting up & down, beware. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend this hotel as a reasonably placed hotel in a good area about 15 minutes walk to the centre of town.

Our stay was mayhem but this Amsterdam for you!if you wanna stay in a nice quite area away from the hussle and bussle this hotel is great roI'm was a good size had a private shower only downfall is they turn the hot water off at 11pm so if you come in late you can't freshen up overall was a OK for the two nights we stayed much better than some of the hotels in Amsterdam nd I will definitely be booking again

Was a decent enough hotel for a 3 night stay, not spotless but a far cry from being dirty. Some of the rooms are smoking rooms and it can linger through the hotel, which sucks for a smoker in a non-smoking room! I could definitely think of some improvements but for the price, and distance to the city centre it's totally worth it. Everything you need in a hotel room as long as you're spending your holiday in the hotel.

A dump but in a great location
The hotel is a dump. The carpet in the room was filthy. The beds were very saggy. No hot water two days in a row. Shower did not drain and overflowed into bathroom floor despite mentioning this to the desk clerk -- it did not change over our 5 day stay. Great location for exploring Amsterdam. Requested non-smoking room but got a smoking room and the smell was terrible. Hotel is above a bar/restaurant that operates til 2:00 am and the noise was terrible. The smoke from the bar/restaurant filled the room with cigarette smoke. Would never stay there again or anyone who does not like cigarette smoke should not stay there. We were surprised Hotels.com would offer such a property on their site -- it is a disgrace.

the staff is nice and they speak fluent English, so communication is not a problem. the hotel is not located at the "centre" of Amsterdam, but it's convenient to take a tram there, and it just take u less than 15 minutes to go there from central station. it's located near the zoo, so if u buy the iAmsterdam card, u can go there for free and take the transport for free too.

Good for us, definitely not everyone.
Apparently, we booked the attic room. We thought it was cute, but others may not agree. I would probably stay here again depending on price, but I would only recommend it to some friends/family, not all. There is no elevator, so to get to the room, you'll have to take some narrow, winding steps. We only stayed overnight, so we didn't even bother carrying our suitcases up, just essentials for a day. We had small twin beds that we pushed together. The room is a decent size, but the ceiling may be a little low for tall people. No AC, but we were comfortable. We had the windows open all the time. In the morning, a very loud bird from the zoo started making nose pretty early and consistently. DON'T bring a car to Amsterdam if you don't have to. It's not car-friendly. We paid a lot to park (1-2 miles away), and apparently, officers will follow you to try to catch you parking without paying the steep street parking prices. The wi-fi works well. The staff were very friendly, and had some good advice. We LOVED Amsterdam. Rented bikes to get around.
