“very cheap but.......”
you gat what you pay .Very cheap resort & very old , very small beds , but .... realy cheap. Algarve have beautiful costline and in october is empty
“A disaster”
The out of season price was good. But, pretty hopeless cooking facilities, neither a microwave or even a mini-oven and the hob wasn't fixed properly in one corner. Dust on the lampshade and under the beds. Bathroom damp marks on walls and ceiling (no extractor). Tested the claimed daily cleaning by noting crumb marks on the floor; they were still there on our return. Heating was insufficient and bathroom particularly was cold. TV remotes were available from the games room which was inaccessible on arrival due to bad weather. Got a remote on day 2 at charge of E5 per day (29 channels claimed, 17 actual). Reception staff didn't quite shrug their shoulders but they might just as well have done.
“Not worth 3 stars!!!”
The hotel was dissappointing! was not expecting what we got for 3 stars. Firstly the staff obviously didnt want to be working their... they were unfriendly and not helpful... the lifts take ages to come down and when they arrive are packed full of people. the actual hotel complex/apartements are huge, therefore the hotel maintaince is not that good. our room/ flat was quite spacious but not very clean, sofa in living room was all stained, ripped and dirty, the balcony doors didnt lock, the tiles in bathroom were all cracked/dirty, toilet seat looked years old. The bedroom was big, with big wardbrodes, but dusty. The beds were very hard, the materesses were uncomfy, the base of bed was mdf, and the pillows very lumpy!! woke up with neck ache every day! towels only got changed every 4 days, they looked dirty anyway. If you wanted to watch tv you had to pay a deposit and then rent it out!!!... starts from 4 euros a night! our beds got made once in the 4 days while we were there, even that only one of them got made??!! (cleaner must have forgotten there was 2 beds there!?) Breakfast you had to pay for, which we didnt bother, seeing the standard of the accomodation, didnt exactly want to try what food they had! the pool was packed everyday we were there, recomend to just walk to beach, only 10-15mins walk, enjoy the sea and sand. The main street next to beach had lots of shops/resturants/cafes around, nice. !!
“As expected from other reviews....”
We weren't expecting the best hotel, however it was much noiser than we expected. The walls and doors are paper thin - many of the guests are there to party all night, as we already knew, however we didn't expect to hear them returning all though the night (until 7am) (rooms above, below, and in the corridors). The seagulls also continue to squak all through the night, so earplugs are a must have if you wish to get any sleep (but this won't solve the problem of the lumpiest pillows ever - take your own!!) The room itself was a very good size, and bed sizes were fine. Kitchen was fully kitted out (although as said in other reviews, no kettle). The tv works by the buttons, so no need to get a remote, and they have many English TV channels too. The pool was good, although very cold, especially considering it sits in the sun all day - the sea was much warmer! The cleaners came in most days, and changed the towls & made the beds, but it was hard to tell if they actually "cleaned" anything, considering the state of the tiles etc. Overall the hotel is a little below what we were expecting, even considering the low cost. The lifts were the slowest we have ever encountered. But if you are planning on a clubbing holiday and don't really care where you sleep off the hangover over, it's probably an ok bet.
“Does Not Deserve 3 Stars”
My son and I spent the night of April 28 at this property on our way back to Malaga after touring the length of Portugal. The price seemed too good to be true and it is. The desk staff was unfriendly, and actually rude on check out. This property is old, and a long walk uphill and then some to even see the beach. The pool was gross, with seagulls actually swimming and pooping in the water. We can only describe it as a 'blue collar ghetto' where they actually charge to use the television. The sliding door did not lock, and the shower was cold for the first 5 minutes (and gave new meaning to 'hard water'). We couldn't wait to get out and on the road. We stayed in much nicer 2 star hotels in Portugal.
“Great for the money”
This hotel was so inexpensive that i cant see anyone having cause to complain, the location was amazing ... 2 minutes walk to main strip of bars and restaurants and another two minutes past this down about forty steps onto the beach... and what a beach !!! couple miles long, half amile wide, with a few restuarants and bars dotted along. The sea was fun, with atlantic rollers coming at and trying to weep you over, probably not a great idea to swim on if you're a non-swimmer but oooh such fun !! The pool area was clean with a slide and plenty of sunbeds, can imagine it getting very busy in July/aug though. The apartment was large enough to sleep 4 confortably and fit a cot in if required and had everything you need to self cater... although its so heap to eat out we didnt bother, just used the fridge for cold drinks etc Overall, i would def go back for a bit of sunshine :-)
“A "Value Hotel" in a great location”
Very basic accommodation but clean and comfortable. Be warned, if you like a bit of home comfort, you will need to pay to hire the TV, kettle, toaster, hairdryer etc. There is also no oven/grill or microwave so not ideal for long stays! Generally, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the outdoor pools are large and well maintained - something for everyone here. Not my usual type of accommodation but I would definitely stay here again.
“Not impressed”
Only stayed 1 sleepless night at Club Praia Da Rocha Apartments but it is certainly a night I would like to forget. This hotel can only be described as grotty from the cracked tiles in the bathroom, dirty bedroom and kitchen. The indoor pool smelled like a public toilet and the outdoor pool was hosting a conference for 16-18 with loud pumping music all day.
“Praia Da Rocha Experience”
Good resort, plenty to see and do with excellent local transportation between Praia and Portimao. Many restaurants, bars including a couple of Irish bars within Praia. The fortress at Praia and Marina area nice to walking around and very safe even late at night. Friendly people who can't seem to do enough to help you.
“Good for somewhere mediocre to stay”
The good things are... that the customer service is very good, the hotel is pretty close to the beach and if you're interested in night life there is lots around. The bad things are ...every roon is identical and they only have twin beds with what I wsould barely call a mattress. If you have back problems this is not the hotel for you. Also, they charge a rental fee for the TV converter and the pool lounge chairs. Make sure you get a pool view otherwise you'll be staring at buildings under construction.
