Very nice luxury hotel. Each room has a beautiful view of the city below. Rooms were nicely furnished and clean. We enjoyed the trails and waterfalls. Staff was excellent. Restaurant reasonably priced for upscale hotel. We had a great couples massage from the spa.

My girlfriend and I planned a relaxing week in Costa Rica well in advance and originally selected accommodation at a different location. We received notification 3 weeks before our travel to Costa Rica that our original hotel selection was cancelled by the hotel which required that we make last-minute plans concerning our lodging. We stumbled upon Asclepios and booked out 6 nights there.
We were greeted on the day of our reservation by welcoming staff and superb service. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and always willing to ensure that we were looked after.
We stayed in the "Aphrodite" room during the entire duration of our reservation and we took advantage of the turkish bath, floatation therapy, and sauna services.
Given the 'wellness' nature of the retreat it wasn't surprising that coffee, soda, and alcohol options are either limited or non-existent and we did not mind much.
When I travel to Costa Rica again I will elect to stay once more at Asclepios; the stay was very much enjoyable.
The most impressive thing about this hotel are the beautiful grounds surrounding. The staff was very helpful and the restaurant food excellent. The hotel needs some upgrading, it is showing its age. The hotel pays for the short cab ride to and from the airport. Use Orange cabs for the ride.

Everything was great with the Pure Vida Spa and Yoga Retreat. The one big problem is that if a person goes on their website it says all meals are included. But, if you book through EXPEDIA the meals are not included and you will receive a whooping extra charge per meal eaten there. Be ready to pay more than expected.
The view is great and there is a very nice coffee field right across from the property which made for a very senic run and walk.
We have returned to this Hotel several times. If we get in late it is close to airport. If you do not want to risk missing your return Home flight. This is the place to stay. Traffic on 1 is ridiculous. You can be stuck for hours.
The manager, George, was absolutely unbelievable - his customer service was over and above. He and his employees were extremely helpful and went over and above to please me and accommodate my travel to the coast. The buffet breakfast was exceptional, the entire hotel was remarkably clean and the swimming area was nice and private and you would never know a main road was close by.
Staff was extremely accommodating. They went out of their way to assist us with rental car return. Also offered to let us know when our dinner was ready in the restaurant so we could clean up upon arrival.
Rooms were clean - slightly outdated. Hot water took its time coming but was plentiful.
The city of Alajuela is in Alajuela province, 20 km (13 mi) northwest of San Jose and just 3 km (2 mi) north of Juan Santamaria International Airport. Many visitors to Costa Rica stay here on their way in and out the country. Colonial architecture is still evident in the city center. The central market, covering an entire city block, is a great place to buy souvenirs.
