I really appreciated how the hotel staff would take us and drop us off at places (beach, restaurants). This hotel is up a steep hill (which is why they have such a great view) and I was nervous about driving up and down. No problem! They took us everywhere, but even had a "room service" relationship with some restaurants where we could eat in our room. This is a very quiet, very relaxing getaway location in an area known for great food (Grand Case & classic French cuisine; why would you stay at an all-inclusive in this area???). I'm hoping to go back some day to truly enjoy it; we only spent one night here. Watch out for traffic though! What took 25 minutes to get there early in the morning can take over an hour to get back in traffic!
The hotel is very nice, the rooms are very convenient, and the atmosphere of the place is great. The property is very well kept. The restaurant is a bit pricey.
There are a lot of restaurants walking distance away. The beach is very wavy, and not good for swimming.
We stayed at marina view end unit 15. Spacious! You get 2 BR and 2 floors (21 steps up), private patios overlooking marina on both floors. We enjoyed the patio views and visitors (birds, iguanas). Gated parking, though tight. Five restaurants and pizza place a short walk. Dawn Beach is a short walk thru Mr. Busby's Beach Bar. We rented two beach chairs and umbrella combo for $12/day. The shore during our stay was piled with seaweed, and much also was suspended in the water. We could still get in for a swim in areas relatively weed-free. Though snorkeling can be done, the surf was too rough for us to try it. We did visit Islet Pinel and took Aqua Mania trips to Shoal Bay, Anguilla, and to Saba; these were enjoyable and worthwhile. You need a car (or hire a taxi) as there's no hotel pick-up. We also toured Philipsburg and Marigot; other than looking for beaches or restaurants, there didn't seem to be much outside of the capitals.
