Beautiful (though rather expensive) room. Very clean and quiet. They were very accommodating in switching rooms for us when we heard a baby crying in the room next to us. The waittress was also wonderful the next morning in getting together some tea that I could take up to my room to sit out on the balcony and wake up watching the lake and people. The surrounding atmosphere was refreshing. We chose to eat in the old town of Goslar, which is about 12 km away and very, very picturesque. After 5 trips to Germany, Goslar has been my favorite town.

This hotel is clean and welcoming although expect a few Germanic touches, such as double rooms with the beds anchored against opposite walls and stairs you have to go down before you can go up, but the beds were comfortable and the bathroom worked well. One nice touch - 2 chairs to sit in, not the usual one. The reputation for breakfast here is well deserved with all you could expect from fruits and yoghurt through to smoked salmon and - for Sunday - sparkling wine. Location is close to the main street so it is easy to get about. Parking can be a problem as there are limited spaces at the hotel. Also - if this your first visit to the Harz area, please don't expect everyone to automatically speak English. The owner here does speak English well but for others we often had to resort to our limited German.

The hotel is very good but difficult to find. There is no lift so it was difficult to get the luggage to the room. The bedroom was ok and bed comfy. Lacked a bit of atmosphere. Would probably look elsewhere if we came to this area again.

Great value, good food and lovely rooms. I was with 4 friends on a motorcycling trip and we all enjoyed our stay. The town centre is a 15 minute walk with plenty of shops and restaurants and the region is also good for walking and cycling. The hotel gas many activities throughout the day from walking trips to excercise classes, massages and a nice pool.
