My husband, my parents, and I chose this hotel because we wanted to stay in a "castle." It is a very stately home with a fascinating history. We were there on a Monday night and one of the few parties at the hotel. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We had a wonderful supper in the restaurant downstairs, and a full breakfast there the next morning. The hotel had just had a very busy weekend (we had originally planned to stay there for the weekend but couldn't get a room) and it seemed the staff had recovered quickly; the hotel was very polished and put back together. My husband says its a hotel with the flavor of a B&B. Its pretty close to Edinburgh (we had a car), Rosslyn, and the bypass which makes it convenient for seeing that area of Scotland. I gave a four for "comfort of room" because the mattress was a bit hard. But the hotel opened around 2003 so all of the facilities are very modern.

Brian and Tina are very welcoming. Go to see the seals that bask on the pier at the bottom of the cliff below the B&B in the morning before the sea goes out.
Walk to the lighthouse at Dunnet Head, the most northerly point of the mainland.
If you sit outside the B&B and look out to sea, you will wonder how you have found one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Stayed here with partner on motorcycle tour for one night. Getting to it was easy and you can park at back of motel but it's that rural I wouldn't lose sleep if I left the keys in the bike. It's next to a small loch so the views are stunning. Owners are lovely. We didn't have a problem with midges either but I'd take repellent if spending time outside. Check what nights they do food as it's 20miles back to Ullapool. We bought food in Ullapool and ate in our room overlooking the loch, perfect for us. Breakfast was lovely and owners very friendly. We wouldn't hesitate in using this place again.
