Room is good size and well maintained. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The lady working in the Tour Shop was extremely helpful and recommended some great day tours around Krabi.
The hotel is closed to all amenities and about less then 5 min walk to the Ao Nang beach.
Staffs was friendly n greeted warmthly when seeing us. Breakfast not much spread but reasonably good. Location was perfect which close to the beach n heart of Aonang shopping area. Room wise, you pay what you get but clean. Not much problem as we always stay out in the day for swim or shopping. Balcony view of our unit is nice, mountain view.
The staff were fabulous - there were a few issues, and they sorted them out straight away (well - in Thai time straight away).
Would definitely go back. We had friends staying in another hotel, but they swapped to ours because it was cheaper AND better.
This part of the island is secluded (only 4 hotels), so everything is a little more expensive - washing shirts is about 40 Baht each (as opposed to 40 Baht for a kilo in other parts of the island)
We stayed in one of the Bamboo Huts overlooking the water and it was incredible. If you are looking for a very different experience to the usual hotel room this is it. The huts only have power from 6pm till 6am but this didn't affect us, we were out doing stuff anyway.
The staff were very helpful and the food at the little restaurant was cheap and really good. The water at the front of our little hut was warm and clear the days we were there. We did wear cheap rubber shoes in though as it is a little rocky.
I had read a lot of reviews about it being really noisy at night with crashing waves and bug sounds but I thought it was the perfect way to fall asleep.
The bedding does smell a little funky but you need to remember you are on a remote part of a tropical island. Drying laundry is not easy! The high humidity means that everything smells a little gross.
The Tawan Cottage was better than I expected. An air conditioned bungalow surrounded by tropical landscaping made for a romantic private setting. The room is broken into three parts, the bedroom, the vanity/dresser area and the bathroom. All the lights are metal in beautiful artistic designs such as a hand holding a flower or a group of flowers. Only the bedroom is air conditioned but even during the hottest month this was fine. A delicious customizable breakfast was served on our private balcony each morning, we just had to remember to order the day before at the front desk. There are dual plugs but only one outlet in the bedroom area. The staff is helpful and friendly and speaks good English.
