- Mexico Family holidays
If you want to visit one of the largest countries on the planet, with some of the most diverse landscapes, cheap family holidays in Mexico are the perfect way to do so. The country offers amazing value for money and a rich tapestry of local culture, not to mention some stunning coastlines, from the Gulf of Mexico to the peninsula of Baja California with its parallel shores facing inwards on the Gulf of California and outwards west across the Pacific Ocean - an ideal place to watch the setting sun as it dips below the horizon and appears to sink directly into the waves.
Mexico's Caribbean coast
The far south of Mexico borders Belize and Guatemala, but more importantly - and surprisingly to some people - the south-east of the country has a coastline on the Caribbean Sea. This means family holidays to Mexico can actually count as a trip to the Caribbean, and offer many of the characteristics of Caribbean island holidays too, such as the warm and calm waters to swim in, and the consistent year-round tropical climate. It's a huge contrast with the immediate image most people think of when you mention Mexico to them, and again offers great value.
Along the Baja California Peninsula
Even if you've taken family holidays in Mexico before, you probably haven't experienced the full scale of the country. Look on a map and the Baja California Peninsula looks like a fairly small strip of land compared to the rest of Mexico, but in reality it measures almost 1,250 km long, and the two long sides of the peninsula alone offer a vast amount of picturesque coastline to enjoy. Again, the tropical climate means there is plenty of great weather to bask in while on the beaches, although the further north you go, the likelier you are to experience cooler days in winter.
The peak time for cheap family holidays in Mexico is the summer season, as you might expect, and this is when you are most likely to see parents with their children enjoying the bright sun and warmer weather of the country. But a surprising second season occurs in November and December when, with much of the northern hemisphere in the depths of winter, Mexico's warmth and sunshine again prove to be a major draw.
Why Mexico is so great for families
Mexicans love kids, which is why they're always willing to make a special effort to ensure that younger visitors are looked after just as well as grown-ups. Family holidays in Mexico are perfect for enjoying spectacular sunsets, balmy water temperatures and some of the world's most spectacular landscapes. This sprawling country also has a range of unique attractions, suitable for children of all ages. All of this, coupled with Mexicans' friendly, laid-back approach, ensure that weary families are revitalised and inspired during their visit to this colourful destination.
