Question 12

When is the best time to go to Medina?

Accepted Answer

The best time to visit the Medina in Marrakech is during the shoulder seasons of spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is most pleasant.

During these months, the temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius, which is ideal for exploring the bustling souks and historic sites without the intense heat of summer. You'll find it's easier to navigate the narrow alleys and enjoy activities like visiting the Bahia Palace or exploring the Jardin Secret.

For those who prefer slightly cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, late autumn (October and November) can be particularly appealing. The days are still sunny, and the evenings are crisp, great for enjoying a traditional Moroccan dinner on a rooftop terrace overlooking the Djemaa el-Fna. This period offers a relaxed pace, making it great for couples looking for a romantic getaway.

Conversely, the summer months (June to August) bring very high temperatures, often exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, which can make sightseeing uncomfortable. The winter (December to February) can be quite chilly, especially in the evenings, though daytime temperatures are generally mild.
