A pleasant hotel in a convenient location ten minutes walk from the train station and a minute from the main square with working wi-fi in our room. The breakfast was average, the usual hotel quality, not as spectacular as their rave suggests.

The hotel was good, clean, well situated except for two niggles:
1. It was very hot inside, despite being freezing weather. We called up the staff and they suggested opening the window, which we did, and problem solved.
2. The door to the bathroom does not lock - in fact it does not even "close" in the normal sense of the word, because by design it's one of these modern all-glass doors in a stainless steel frame with about a 1 cm gap on all 4 sides between the glass and the frame. The hinges and the door frame don't have stops, so if you try to "close" it, it simply keeps going past the center position and "opens" out the other side. We got around this by wedging a piece of tissue paper between the door and the frame so it would stay put in the closed position, but I rated room comfort 4 out of 5 as in general I prefer to have a bathroom door that locks.

Small hotel close to the historic centre of Lucca. A very warm reception on arrival. The rooms were spotless and very crisp clean bedding. Aircon available and wi fi worked well. Bathroom small and shower smaller but adequate. Breakfast was continental with everything you would require. We took a kettle in the room as no bar/ cafe area on site but this is what you would expect from a small hotel. We wanted to get to the railway station and asked Big Paoulo to call a taxi he took us in his car. Thank you Paoulo. All staff friendly and helpful they also ordered tickets for us to see the Puccini opera a must while you are in Lucca. I would stay at this hotel again and recommend it to friends. Luca is a magical place and easy to travel to Florence and Pisa by train.
Overall an excellent hotel and base for a holiday in Lucca.
beautiful Villa just a short walk from Lucca's historic center; the entire hotel appears to have been renovated recently and has marble floors, marble baths, and elegant and comfortable beds. The breakfast buffet is copious and the staff very accommodating . Highly recommended
The location is brilliant, commanding the Piazza Giglio and only 15 minutes easy walk from the station. The first impressions are encouraging with its Belle Epoque charm. Once inside the reception, though, it begins to look dowdy, with heavy furniture and a worn carpet. Our welcome was no more than perfunctory. The lift was just big enough for one passenger and two modest bags and except for arrival and departure we used the stairs, which have a nice shallow tread. Our room had plenty of space, the beds were comfortable and the air-conditioning, though a bit noisy, worked well.
The bathroom, however, left much to be desired - like enough water to have a proper shower or to run a bath in less than 20 minutes. And the extractor fan roared like a small aircraft.
The television set (not that you need one in Lucca) was vintage 1970s, linked by odd cables to somewhere in the wall and produced only classic black and white snowstorm, however many buttons you pressed.
Breakfast was adequate - good croissants, cheap fruit juice, machine coffee - but the furniture is depressing.
This could be a great hotel with some better management and some much needed refurbishment. At the moment it's like a movie star who's seen better days.

Good hotel with very helpful staff. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Only one downside and that the room was not well insulated/soundproofed. You could hear low level traffic noise at times and also people in the room above, the staff were helpful when we mentioned this and did offer to move us when a room was available.
