"Small hotel in the countryside near Exeter."
A very comfortable stay. Enjoyed lovely breakfasts and served at the table which makes a different from most hotels which have self- service breakfasts. The restaurant was very cosy with an extensive menu.

"Nice place to stay"
Nice facilities with lovely restaurant and separate bar. Staff were helpful, ftiendly and polite. Room and bathroom very clean.Bed was a bit uncomfortable for my liking though. The hotel is a bit out of Exeter which I didnt realise when I booked but a easy journey if you drive. We arrived by train and a taxi outside the station (metered ) cost us £22 to get there. There is a taxi company across the road with fix rates that are around £15. There is a bus going into town which is quite reliable if you time it right! Cost for this is £2.40 single journey. Overall a lovely place to stay.

"Ok for business"
The hotel is old, tired and run down although there was some renovation/decoration work whilst I was there. My room was an adequate size with old 1970's furniture and decoration. It was all rather tired and gloomy but it was clean and the bed was comfortable enough. The TV was a large flat screen. There were Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room. The window opened to cool the room and let some air in, and even though right on a road it was still quite enough to sleep with the window open all night. The en suite toilet and shower worked well but were very old and the floor moved to much for my liking, as if someone had flooded the floor and it had not dried properly. The breakfast was cooked to order and rather tasty. The problem was they don't open until 7.30am on a Monday (7.00am for the rest of the week) and I had to leave at 7.40am. This room was newly decorated and looked good except for the old bedraggled seats. The reception is unmanned and I had to go into the bar to check in on arrival. Check out was a basket in which to leave your key. All the staff were friendly and pleasant. There are no lifts but I was offered help to take my bulky kit up the narrow house type stairs I couldn't leave it in my car. There is limited parking at the front, although I managed to park both evenings and it's convenient for the railway station. All in all I would stay there again as it's convenient for where I was working but I wouldn't pay a lot.

"Ok. Central Exeter."
Lovely building...could do with new bedroom furniture and a re-vamp. Could be fab. However our stay was warm and comfortable. Linen white fresh and clean. Quite a few creeks and scurryings going on in the night but to be expected, I suppose, from such an old building. Beautiful multi pane sash windows. Breakfast was good. Central Exeter was ideal for our overnight stay to visit the university.
