"A hotel in a grand stone manor house"
Our room was comfortable and very well equipped. To begin with I found the size and grandeur of this award winning hotel slightly intimidating. The welcome and professionalism of the staff soon made this a really relaxing enjoyable stay. The food was excellent, with something for every taste at breakfast. The interiors, gardens, grounds, surroundings and location are all beautiful.

"A hidden gem"
A super find, a lovely Inn just a short stroll down a quiet track to the most fabulous beach. The inn is super with a beautiful garden very family friendly with a well thought out play area. Great food on the evening and a nice breakfast too. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We have a son with special needs and this makes going any where a real chore but this stay was just great in every way, we will defiantly be going back.

"Nice hotel, convenient for Chester"
Convenient hotel in a village location to the south of Chester. Improvement works to the entrance etc taking place at present, but besides some extra contractor's vans in car park did not disturb. Our double room faced the inner court and although perhaps a little small, had a good bathroom. The room was only let down by squeaky floorboards in room above on one evening. The restaurant was good with attentive staff.

"Historic relaxing hotel"
Upon pulling through the archway you know you are in for a treat. The hotel itself is a mansion type building full of lovely antiques, fireplaces burning and romantic nooks. Our room overlooked the other building but was decorated to make you feel like a princess. The bed was gold and ornate with heavy tapestry, clawfoot tub in the bathroom. Plenty of space. The windows swung open so you could let in a nice breeze. The ruins were all around you so anywhere you went you could see something of interest. The spa was simple and a nice perk. You get a robe and flip flops as soon as you go down and change. Unfortunately we didn't use the exercise facilities as we didn't bring the right clothes, but we did remember a bathing suit so we fully enjoyed the sauna, hot tubs and the coolest rain shower. There was only one hot tub functioning at the time and it was a small wooden barrel type. But it was complimentary so one can't complain. We had a complimentary buffet breakfast which was an English type breakfast, very nice. Overall it is a very great deal for a hotel much less one that is so beautiful and with so much historic significance. Don't forget to search out the stone circle on the property.

"Relaxing break for a few days."
Our 4th visit, 3rd in a cottage. Our cottage was listed as a 'superior cottage' in Expedia terms, but each is different. We stayed in 'Baliff's house', with a downstairs lounge, separate kitchen with sink/kettle/fridge, upstairs to a large king bedroom with adjoining bath/shower room. There's a semi private garden just outside. The hall itself is set in extensive and beautiful grounds, several hundred metres from the A470, so access is good and noise it minimal. Ample parking, including areas very close to the cottages. There's a spa (think girly stuff) but it has a great pool and is generally empty so you can have a proper splash around. The main house is as you'd expect. Lots of nooks and crannies and 'high tea' or booze can be served anywhere. The dining room is smallish (I think about a dozen tables) but well presented, excellent service and very find dining in the evening. Staff very friendly and welcoming. The grounds/gardens are really impressive. Check out pics on the web and satellite imagery to give a sense of scale. Big enough to get a decent about of exercise! Love the place. As I say, it's our 4th visit, and it won't be our last.
