We had a wonderful time. The hotel staff arrange a great tour of an olive oil/balsamic vinegar/vineyard. Priceless. Also they arrange a city tour (a must). One misses a lot of information about the city with a self guided tour. Recommend great restaurants.

La Suvera is a wonderful hotel. The location is perfect for visiting all the major sights in Tuscany, and the quality of the accommodation, restaurants, pool, gardens, but most of all the people, was unrivalled. The staff, both at reception and in the two restaurants, were fantastic - welcoming, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The day before we were due to leave we had to delay our trip by 24 hours - the hotel did not charge us for the cancelled night. Having spent four nights at the hotel, and thereafter four days in Umbria, we changed our plans at the last minute and returned for the final night of our trip. We were greeted like long lost friends, which made it even more of a pleasure to return to this wonderful place.

The photos on Expedia don't do this place justice! It's like Pebble Beach, CordeValle and the movie Under the Tuscan Sun all wrapped into one. World Class Robert Trent Jones Golf Course, large lounging pool, big rooms, first class service and an incredible history. This hotel used to be a whole small village as early as the year 1100. Yes 1100.
There is a small church and a well on the property that look like movie props. Rolling hills, Tuscan farm houses and a PGA-worthy golf course line the country side. Our room had a view that we laughed at every morning because it was so gorgeous. Each day of our 3 day trip we would marvel at the detail of things you don't notice at first. For example the restaurant waiters wear tuxedos...all day long. The glassware is real crystal, the wine list has bottles worth over $2,000, the breakfast, that is included, has "all the finest meats and cheeses". The staff set up a special table for our family of 5 everyday anticipating our arrival at breakfast. The bartender at the pool, also wearing a tuxedo, made special drinks for the kids.
We stayed in the Suite because that was the only room that would take 2 adults and 2 kids, and we asked for an extra bed for our 3rd child and two people, one of which was wearing a French maid uniform, promptly brought us a roll away. Not cheap as they charge €60 (about $84) per night for the extra bed. But worth it.
We would stay here for a month if we could. Pay the money, book it.
The hotel property is so beautiful and unique that I can't describe into words. It's a little village, converted into a hotel. I got the room in the former palazzo, very interesting. They have their vineyard and tasting room. I did wine tasting on the property; their wines are superb. This location is very remote and is not walking distance to the next civilization. Reservations for dinner at nearby village are highly recommended. This property is suitable for people who want to relax 100%.

If you would like a nice relaxing break in the hills then this is definitely the hotel for you. It is 5 star with 5 star prices! The food was some of the best we had on our trip around tuscany but you do pay a lot! The atmosphere was a little formal for our liking but they do offer a free shuttle in to sienna, however it's only one in and one back per day. Definitely need a hire car for this hotel.
