Find hotels in Agostoli from £47

The best area to stay in Agostoli is within the historic village itself, particularly around the central Piazza della Cisterna.

This area is the heart of Agostoli and offers a truly authentic Tuscan experience. The Piazza della Cisterna, with its ancient well, is the focal point, surrounded by narrow, winding streets brimming with local artisan shops, trattorias, and wine bars. Most accommodations here are boutique hotels or restored historic residences, blending traditional architecture with modern comforts.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find the village centre ideal. You'll be able to enjoy leisurely strolls, discover hidden courtyards, and dine at intimate restaurants, all within easy walking distance. The evenings here are particularly special, with the soft glow of streetlights illuminating the medieval buildings.

For families, staying slightly outside the main square but still within the village walls offers a good balance. These areas often provide a bit more space and quieter surroundings, while still being just a short walk from all the village's amenities.

The best time to visit Agostoli is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, September, and early October.

These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures great for exploring the Tuscan countryside without the intense heat and larger crowds of mid-summer. You'll find the vineyards and olive groves at their most picturesque, either bursting with spring growth or rich with autumn colours.

For couples looking for a romantic escape, May and September are particularly appealing. The weather is ideal for leisurely drives through the rolling hills, wine tasting at local estates, and enjoying al fresco dining in the evenings. You can comfortably visit nearby historic towns like Montepulciano or Pienza, and return to a peaceful setting in Agostoli.

Travellers interested in outdoor activities, such as cycling or walking, will find June and early October excellent choices. The temperatures are comfortable for longer excursions, and the natural beauty of the Val d'Orcia is at its peak.
