we are married in our 40's no kids. We were looking for a chill holiday and got exactly that.
Hotel is great staff are great. nice beach 4 pools, plenty of food choice, we're not big drinkers so we weren't on all inc but bars were cool too. we didn't do a lot of activities but there was plenty on offer with a dive shop and snorkelling trips etc.
Everything about our stay was perfect! I spent a long time before we booked looking at all the different areas/hotels/reviews and everything and even made a spreadsheet to compare the best prices for our favourites- I have to say we couldn't have gone for anything better! We did see a few of the other hotels and nothing compared. Tamassa is just stunning and had a really nice relaxed feel. The staff were so lovely and helpful and made us feel very at home- even remembering our drinks orders! The food was delicious with a huge range every single night- honestly no one would be dissatisfied! The burger van at lunchtime did some of the best burgers I've ever had-especially the fish and the chicken burgers. Drinks were amazing too and very varied: we were all inclusive (highly recommended!) and honestly everything was included- a huge drinks and cocktails menu, ALL the food, we were so impressed. The only thing we paid for in our 13day stay was a very small charge for room service once. I was surprised that the water skiing was included too and we took full advantage of that along with other water sports. The room was beautiful and had a huge bathroom with separate bath and large shower and his and hers sinks. We ended up hiring a car at the airport which worked out cheap and well worth it if you do a few trips. We did a day at the racing in Port Louis, some shopping, a quad bike safari (best experience ever- we stroked Zebras!).
Just couldn't fault a thing!
We arrived in hotel at around 1800hrs. A good welcome by staff. I had booked a room with buffet breakfast. Since we are pure vegetarians we could not find food of our taste, Staff was so helpful they immediately called the chef for our demand, we requested for aloo pratha ( indian taste) specially for only two of us. Trust me, they provided us the best breakfast, we enjoyed the breakfast. For next 3 days when we came for breakfast they treated us nicely with food of our choice. Ambiance of the hotel was very good. We enjoyed water activities in the resort. It was great experience. I would definitely prefer the same resort for my next trip.
Wonderful holiday, relaxing at times and energetic when we wanted it. Facilities great with fabulous kids club. Although we only used it twice, the staff we lovely. Catamaran day trip a highlight & would recommend it. We did it with an 8 & 2 year old and we all enjoyed it. Grounds stunning. Food heavenly. We upgraded to all inclusive once there as it's not terribly close to restaurants etc. It's not cheap but we loved it.
This was our honeymoon trip, and it was just about perfect. The staff are really attentive, and it seemed like every one of them was taking personal responsibility for making sure we were looked after. We arrived on an early flight, but a room was made available within an hour. The transfer went smoothly, and the rep was very helpful. We got a 'lagoon view' room, that still had a great view of the sea, which was turned down three times a day. The food was good and plentiful, although the veggie options were a bit limited, and the entertainments were varied and high quality. Drinks and food prices are at hotel levels and in Euros, so if you're half-board you might want to get a taxi to the local supermarket for supplies. The Connections excursions were well organised, and the guides friendly and enthusiastic. For our last week, we booked a taxi from the stand outside the hotel to see the island. Don't leave Ile aux Cerfs too late - you'll probably want to get back! Expect to haggle when shopping but we didn't find the prices for clothes to be any cheaper than the UK though. If you're looking for souvenirs, look in Mahebourg as they're significantly cheaper than the shops elsewhere. When we went over it was Rs50 = 1 pound so if you want an easy way to convert without using a calculator, multiply the Rupee figure by 2 and knock off the last two digits, so Rs1000 = 1000x2 = 2000 = 20.00 or so. Overall, this was a great holiday in a good location, and we'd definitely go back.
We were asked to move our car three times on arrival in the large, empty carpark as apparently one area was saved for taxis, another for staff and a third for a wedding. Every evening they changed their minds as to which of the empty slots was OK to stay in.
Check-in was poor as we were left in the bar areas without a drink for 20 minutes not knowing what was happening.
The first room we were moved to was next to a fence to a public areas with really loud music playing so we had to ask to be moved.
Food was average at best and, where not included, very overpriced compared to much better restaurants across the island.
Drinks were expensive (150 Rs for 1 litre of water) but it was not permitted to bring your own.
The advertised wi-fi was only in the bar area. It 'worked' about 25% of the time and even then was intermittent and only 0.1Mbps (slow!).
The advertised satellite TV was three local and very poor channels which were unwatchable.
