I had read many bad reviews about this hotel so was prepared for the worst, but I had a great experience. The front desk lady was very nice and caring (although there was a little bit of a wait to get a room.) I arrived at about 10:30 at night on a Wednesday. The Expedia reservation was honored, and I was given a nice room on the 15th floor. (This place is HUGE, with more than 16 floors and 10 elevators.) It's definitely historic in nature- the hallways are wide and very long, and each door has a plaque noting the building's historic nature. The room itself was fairly modern though and very clean with a modern flat-screen TV. It was a bit on the small side but on the whole very nice. Everything functioned, the water pressure and temperature was great, and hangers, an ironing board, an iron, and a hair dryer were provided. On the whole it was very nice- would definitely stay there again. Forgot to mention, the location is PERFECT, and the lobby is extremely grand looking- looks like a very swanky hotel.
Hotel is Literally 3mins walk from Time Square. It's not the most glamorous hotel, no bar or food but there's a lovely deli next door and 2 irish pubs on the same street, staff are friendly specially Joey.
I travelled with a group of 21 people, myself and my 2 sisters stayed in James hotel, the rest stayed in various hotels... For our location and price we got the best value for money!!! Would definitely stay here again!
Our room was not available to us upon check in.
I had called to verify that we were arriving late 11pm as we had tickets to a show.
They confirmed, but when we arrived, there was no room available. The desk clerk made every effort to accommodate us in another hotel nearby which included taxi fare getting there and room credit as there was only a fabulous Jr. Suite available.
Credit was given in a timely manner.
If you like funky old world charm with a European flare you'll love the Jane.
I think Wes Anderson must of stayed here before he made the Grand Budapest Hotel.
Great location, excellent restaurant an overall lovely experience.
We were like, "A hotel in Manhattan for that little? What's wrong with it?" Well it is a great deal! The price is low because the rooms are small, there are no real extra's. But if you are looking for a clean, quiet place to flop and you want a deal, this is it. The staff was very friendly and the hotel clean and quiet. What more do you need?
