A clean, comfortable hotel in a great location. Pros: Wonderful neighborhood, quick transportation everywhere via the 96th St. subway station with express service, available free on-street overnight parking (not on Broadway but on most other streets), clean modern bathrooms, in-room microwave and mini-fridge. Cons: Small rooms (adequate for sleeping but not much more), no common areas other than a small lobby, plain and dreary hallways, no parking attached to the hotel itself. Summary: A reliable budget lodging choice, good value for the money - would come here again.
A warm welcome from lovely staff, clean rooms, relatively large for NYC, a pretty lobby, good workout facilities (plus, we were told that we could use the JCC nearby for a pool and larger facilities. Good to know). The breakfast was very nice too. The location was terrific, right on a subway line. I was very impressed and will likely stay when we return.

Needed to be close to Symphony Space as my friend's son who lives in England was playing there Friday night. Easy for people to meet at hotel because it is close to subway, walk to great dining and walk to Symphony Space.
Could not have asked for a nicer stay. Clean, comfortable room. Got a suite which was very roomy. One elevator was out of service which necessitated walking outside to go around the building to get to the exercise room but that was very minor. Location was great, right in the heart of the Upper West Side. Many shops and restaurants, and subway stop close by. Highly recommend for a pleasant stay that's not too expensive.
Some bemoan that the Upper West Side has become a version of the Upper East Side. Case in point: Columbus Circle’s Time Warner Center, one of New York’s priciest real estate. The Upper West Side includes the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the American Museum of Natural History, and Columbia University. Harlem, the legendary African American neighborhood, lies north and caps Manhattan.
