A stay at the Bargellino is a pleasure. This small family run hotel is a comfortable walking distance from all the major historical sights in Florence as well as being near to the railway station. It is in a quiet street with little or no traffic. In fact the noisiest thing during the day is probably the pet parrot. There is a large terrace available to guests on which they can enjoy an aperitif though this would have to be their own drink as there is no bar. The owners have, however, conveniently provided cork screws.
The hotel does not provide food but there is a good selection of restaurants and bars close by and they are on the edge of the tourist area so prices are low and quality high.
We would certainly try to stay at the Bargellino should the opportunity arise.
The hotel's great location allows you to walk to pretty much anywhere in Florence. It's no more than 10 mins from the train station. The hotel has character and the staff are extremely nice, informative and friendly. Even the cleaning lady spend a few mins with us answering any questions we had. Check in time is only during certain hours. When checked in the guy at front desk spend a lot of time explaining what we can see, how to get there and actually did a whole itinerary for us. Super helpful!!! We had a great day of exploring the city and a very enjoyable evening.
The breakfast offered by the hotel is NOT free. We woke up and went to the breakfast room to eat something, there was nobody there but another family trying to figure out how to boil water. We figured things out quick, made some tea and had some cereal. Five mins later the receptionist walked in looking a bit unhappy. He was pretty angry that we just walked in and made breakfast ourselves. No one was there so we assumed that it's self serve. He later apologized for getting upset at us and we also apologized for making breakfast ourselves. It was just a misunderstanding so we would definitely recommend and go back to this hotel.

Drawbacks, when you take a shower, the bathroom gets flooded; the coffee in the brekkie was not hot enough; the tiny breakfast room has no tables but bars against the walls.
Advantages, location is fantastic; staff is attentive and helpful at all times.

Two fans in our room!
We also had the pleasure each night listening to someone from across the street who would play the piano in the evening. It was beautiful! Nice soft background music.

Like the title says, very nice clean rooms and staff. A 5 minute walk from all the best sights in Firenze, however we got booted from our original shared bathroom because it was made private for someone, not sure the story there, and moved down the hall to another bathroom. It wasn't bad and this may have been done because there were only 2 guests in the Hotel and the staff was trying to give us each a bathroom of our own. Would recommend.

I was upgraded from a single with a separate bathroom to a three bed en-suite. Own keys very useful, favourite bit of town just so close to everything but quiet and friendly. I will certainly come back and recommend to others. Don't usually write reviews but feel it's worth highlighting this good service.

Due to the price we really weren't expecting too much, which was fine for us as we simply wanted a clean and comfortable base to use for our exploring of Florence and the surrounding area. It literally took us only a few minutes to walk from the Florence train station to the property, which is located just off the Duomo square so a great central location in the heart of Florence! When we stepped inside the property it was so lovely and quiet - and clean! Donatelli, the beautiful host, was personable and lovely, checking us into our room quickly and with such a lovely way about her that we felt right at home straight away. When we walked through the communal sitting area with lounges and reading books, we went down a tiled corridor past our bathroom that we only shared with 3 other rooms. When we opened the door to our room we were met with a massive sized room complete with enough bedding for 4 people even though we only needed the one double bed and we had 2 big windows that had views to the top of the Duomo - fab! We had a wardrobe, wash basin and bideau in our room too. On one particular night we were delayed in getting back to the property as we made a mistake with the return train times from Cinque Terra so didn't arrive back until 3am and Donatelli was genuinely worried about us on our return as we'd generally been back in our room by 11pm on each of the nights of our stay - was so nice to have her genuinely caring about us. Property was immaculately clean and wonderful
