Hotel is ideally located next to the train and bus station. Check-in was quick, staff were polite and well informed. We stayed in a courtyard room which was spacious and clean. Courtyard was pleasant quiet retreat after a busy day walking around Venice. Rooftop terrace is worth a visit. Breakfast is relaxing experience, with a wide range of food available with attentive staff. Will certainly be staying here again.
This was our second trip to Venice, this time with the children. We wanted a hotel that was close to all of the transport links from the Marco Polo airport plus close to vaporreto stops for ease of travelling around Venice. The Santa Chiara Hotel could not have been better positioned. We took the ATVO express coach from Marco Polo at a cost of €15 return each. Within 20 minutes we were at the Piazzale Roma which is the coach/bus arrival and departure stop on Venice. A 2 minute walk and no bridges to cross with your luggage, we were at the Santa Chiara Hotel. After a friendly welcome from the hotel reception we were escorted to our room, while we settled in our luggage was brought to our room.
Our room was located in the main original part of the hotel, a good size classically decorated and with a good view. Breakfast was included in our stay this was continental style of which there was a good choice from fresh fruit and yogurts to cereals, cakes, croissants meats and cheeses. We found the staff always friendly and helpful and they always acknowledged the children and helped to teach them new words and numbers in Italian.
We all had a fantastic time in Venice and enjoyed our stay at the Santa Chiara Hotel.
This is an old hotel in need of repair but still an OK place to stay. It's only a 7 minute walk from Piazzale Roma which is the end of the road into Venice and the central plaza near the train station, cruise terminal and bus station. From the train station it's over 3 bridges or a 2 minute water taxi. From the plaza it's over 2 small bridges walking. Staff was excellent, let us leave our bags at 9 am so we could spend the day touring before check-in. Breakfast was simple but good with hard boiled eggs, some lunch meat, juice and breads. Room was very compact and bed was a bit hard but still OK for a 3 star. Bath was tiny with tub but only a hose for a shower not mounted on the wall. View was over the Grand Canal looking toward the train station...what else can you say about that :-). Everything in Venice is old and in need of repair. Honestly it's not a very clean place but the history and ambience trumps the price and condition. No elevator so it's a bit of a climb to the rooms, although Venice in general requires substantial walking, climbing of stairs and uneven surfaces at every turn.
The hotel is about 30 mins away from st Marc's however is close to the train, bus and water bus stops so location is great for exploring. Special mention to the staff who are excellent. The manger went out of his way to swap our room when we mentioned we were too hot on the 3rd floor. Breakfast was great and so were the serving staff. We booked this hotel for 3 nights based in the strength of the TripAdvisor reviews and were not disappointed. highly recommended.
A cheap but excellent hotel with friendly staff, well sized rooms and a great location. The location was perfect as it wasn't in the ridiculously touristy parts of the city, instead giving you a feel of the real Venice. Although it was still close enough to all the sites! Many great places to eat and drink close to the hotel. The included breakfast was lovely, a short walk from the hotel in a local cafe with a choice of fruit juice and hot drink, a fresh croissant and bread every morning. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

The hotel Ai Tolentini is a delightful and comfortable property located in the Santa Croce district in Venice. The …More
At the start of the Grand Canal, Santa Croce is set immediately across from the bus station and railway station. It is a peaceful quarter adjacent to, but largely unaffected by the visitor hubbub. The picturesque Ponte degli Scalzi is a great place for watching the busy canal traffic and there are many fines churches to explore off the beaten tourist track. The Rialto Bridge is only a 10-minute walk or boat ride away.
