Hotel Botanico & The Oriental Spa Garden

10/10 Excellent

"We have just got back from staying here for a half term break. Staff were amazing and so helpful. Great location and the room we had was really spacious and great views. I would definitely recommend it and will be going again."

The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama

10/10 Excellent

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Exceptional Stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Tenerife – True Luxury at Its Finest! We have stayed at Ritz-Carlton hotels around the world, and I can confidently say that The Ritz-Carlton, Tenerife, has once again exceeded our expectations! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the level of service, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality was simply outstanding. We stayed in The Retreat, in a beautiful One-Bedroom Suite with Ocean View, and the entire experience was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed so warmly and professionally by the staff. We were transported by car to the private check-in area, where we were offered refreshing drinks and made to feel incredibly special. Although check-in was at 4 pm and we had to wait a little while for our suite, the hotel ensured we were comfortable and could enjoy its wonderful facilities, along with complimentary drinks and delicious nibbles included as part of our suite experience. It was the"

Be Live Adults Only Tenerife

8/10 Good

"Friendly staff who were happy to help. Bar staff remembered people and their drinks. Variety of food selection on offer. Lots of sun loungers on offer although the hotel can block the sun occasionally. The room was fine, clean and spacious. Room and general internal areas of the hotel looked slightly old / outdated however no complaints. Only one issue was in the final morning before checking out, there was a fairly large leak coming from the ceiling above the shower, this didn’t affect me as I was preparing to leave and reception staff did apologise and arrange the maintenance crew to check."

Landmar Costa los Gigantes Family Resort

8/10 Good

"This was our 2nd visit to the hotel with our 3 year old. Clean room on arrival and room was cleaned every day new clean towels when requested, we took a spare absorbent sheet to put on our toddlers bed that was washed without being asked which was so kind, all staff very friendly, bar staff always happy to help, pool very clean and plenty of sun loungers all day so no need to go to the pool early in the morning to try and reserve sun beds. Lovely selection of food catering for all needs and dietary requirements. Arcades are great for kids and pool tables for adults. Photos can be taken by staff by pool and around the hotel but perhaps expect these to be done a little more professionally for the price. Minimum is €15 per photo with a minimum purchase of 5 if you also want these digitally. Pool towels are supplied with a deposit paid which is refunded at the end of your stay. Great selection of activities to choose from although we were a little disappointed that the soft play is no longer at this hotel. Evening entertainment is great although worrying that the disco and inside entertainment is over the safe decibel limit for children so this will need to be improved for us to return. Great experience"

hotel Marquesa

8/10 Good

"Great option for budget Before mentioning any negatives, I want to start by saying the staff were amazing and highly professional. The person who greeted us was one of the best hotel staff members I’ve ever encountered and truly deserves recognition. It’s also worth noting that this is a 3-star budget hotel, so expectations should be set accordingly—you generally get what you pay for. The main building has great charm, being over 300 years old, which adds character to the stay. We booked a budget room (Room 104), which had a small courtyard but lacked any real views. One of the major concerns was the lack of air conditioning. Although units are present, they don’t work effectively. During summer, the island gets very hot, and the room often felt like an oven, which made it uncomfortable at times. The pool is small but serves its purpose well as a place to cool off. There is also a sun terrace with around 40 loungers, which is a nice touch. Breakfast was included, but as part of a budget offering, the hot food could have been better. It was often cold, and unfortunately, the plates provided didn’t fit in the microwave to reheat the food. The bathroom was missing sink plugs for both the sink and the bath, which was inconvenient. It would also have been a big improvement if the room had a fridge. On the positive side, the hotel is in a great location in a lovely town, ideal for those looking for a quieter holiday"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in San Marcos?

The best area to stay in San Marcos, particularly for those seeking quality and convenience, is directly along the beachfront promenade.

This area is the heart of San Marcos, offering immediate access to the main beach and a selection of the town's best hotels and dining options. The promenade itself is a pleasant pedestrian walkway, great for strolls, and it connects directly to the marina area. Most facilities, such as shops and restaurants, are concentrated here, making it incredibly convenient for visitors.

Couples looking for a relaxing holiday will find this area ideal. Hotels here often boast sea views and direct beach access, providing a serene setting for a romantic getaway. Dining out is effortless, with numerous restaurants offering fresh seafood and local specialities just steps from your accommodation.

Families also benefit greatly from staying along the promenade. The proximity to the beach means less hassle with carrying equipment, and many hotels in this area cater to families with larger rooms or amenities suitable for children.

When is the best time to go to San Marcos?

The best time to visit San Marcos is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) months, when the weather is pleasantly warm and the crowds are smaller.

San Marcos enjoys a subtropical climate, meaning warm temperatures year-round. However, spring and autumn offer the superb balance for those looking to explore without the intense summer heat or the slightly cooler, though still mild, winter period. You'll find the average daily temperatures hovering around 20-25°C, ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities.

For couples seeking a relaxing getaway, these shoulder seasons are particularly appealing. The fewer tourists mean a more intimate experience at local restaurants and attractions. You can enjoy strolls along the San Marcos beach or explore the nearby cliffs with more tranquillity, often finding better deals on accommodation compared to the peak summer months.

Families with younger children will also appreciate the milder temperatures during spring and autumn. It's much more comfortable for little ones to spend time outdoors, whether building sandcastles on the beach or visiting the botanical gardens, without the risk of overheating.
