Constant problems with room and staff

Pros: Nice beach.
Cons: Services and room quality.
Changed room due to no hot water and terrible sewage smells, second room only 1 bed when there should be 2 and leakage from the ceiling in the bathroom. Constant problems with the door key and was only repaired the day before we left, to access the room we had to leave the back room open. Payed room services were never available, or very late.

Lights Go Out/Roaches

Pros: food and restaurants were good
Cons: rooms electricity and cleanliness; rooms need to be upgraded as well. employees said this is the oldest hotel there. Yamelkis at front desk was great!
Location: hotel is about 20 min from the airport which is great but far from Bavaria beach which is great compared to the dirty, full of seaweed beach they have
We stayed in regular rooms and once we arrived, the a/c took ALL day to make the room feel cozy; we called front desk to have someone check it out and the tech said since we had checked in that day, it would take all day for the room to get cold (never heard of that with room being so small). that same night, the lights went out in the whole building not once, not twice, but a total of FOUR times. my 1 year old was sleeping and woke up crying because it got so hot. it took them about 20 min the first time to turn on the generator. (lights also went out at the pool buffet earlier that day) then we found a dead roach in our bedroom that same morning and later another one outside our room door. my husband went to the lobby to complain and we were upgraded to Privilege. nicer view but still the same room. the pictures on Expedia of modern rooms is most likely for the TimeShare owners. lights also went out a couple of days later but only lasted off about 5 min. also, when lights go out, so does the water. our cleaning lady always forgot to put new towels in the bathroom. my husband was showering with the baby and had no towels. I called front desk to have new towels and 1 hour later, no one still had shown up with the towels. pool was ok by the bar, but on my last day I went to the other side where the KIDS are and the pool was DISGUSTING. I even saw a dead roach floating and immediately grabbed my daughter and went back to our room.

A good buy for a family vacation.

I wouldn't go back

Most Dominicans not to say all, want your money and are dishonest. Our A/C never went lower than 73 degrees. I have traveled the world and everything in Punta cana is extremely expensive. They want to sell you tours and a type of timeshares all day long through out the hotel which made our stay there very annoying.

Family get away.

The hotel fit our needs. It had everything we were looking for. Close proximity to the airport, sufficient quantity of restaurants, bars and such. The pool was large with a variety of locations to get sun or shade. Yordano was great at the swim up bar. Victor was excellent at the bar Curaçao Bar. The chef at the Japanese restaurant was great and so was a young server at the Italian restaurant. Otherwise, it seemed like many of the staff did not really try too hard. Not many staff were overly friendly. They would eat in the same buffets at breakfast and lunch and walk right in front of you to get there food. Most of the rooms were a bit warm. The first room we checked into had a leak in the bathroom ceiling from the tub above us. We then had to be moved . The stairways to the rooms were never free of garbage. It just seems like several of the staff members do the bare minimum. We also had a traveler cancel at the last second due to school and they would not give us any credit for the room fee, nor would Expedia. Most likely be heading back to Mexico. Much cleaner and friendlier.

Great hotel, friendly staff

Pros: We were very happy with everything.
Cons: We really had no complaints.
Location: Lots of excursions available. And trips to the town can be arranged by the desk.
While I was a little worried based on a few reviews, this hotel was really wonderful. The accommodations were spacious, the staff was amazing, the food was good. We requested to be away from the disco and pool because of noise and were given the perfect location. The air-conditioning was great. Activities fun. Be aware that the beach isn't the blue Caribbean you might think. It's Atlantic side and has a lot of seaweed. That said, there are fish right up at the beach. Not great snorkeling, but not horrible. The rooms were updated and comfortable. And I think the hotel has gotten the message that visitors don't want to be hassled by those trying to sell upgrades or membership packages. We were politely asked and then left alone. This was a great deal cost wise. Close to the airport. Definitely a great place for families and couples. We were very pleasantly surprised.

Did not meet our expectations.

Pros: Proximity to the beach.
Cons: Staff friendliness and wifi access.
Location: This is a resort, not much to do outside of the resort, or at least, I didn't find anything.
Staff is generally rude, with the exception of a few. Wifi access if horrible, hit or miss. Rooms felt old.

The bad-Poor air conditioning systems only would go to 74 degrees. Poor service in the buffets. Maintenance was very slow with multiple requests needed and frequent visits to the front desk. Changed rooms several times due to maintenance issues. Coming 2 travel rep very rude and threatened not to give us a ride to the airport that we paid for if we didn't buy his excursions. A lot of selling of time shares and other things constantly. The good-Front desk very courteous, as well as the specialty restaurants. Bartenders very friendly and always smiling. Bell hops friendly and tried to be helpful. Beautiful landscaping and overall outside property. There are several topless people here so I would not bring your kids unless that's part of your culture. This wasn't really mentioned in any reviews I read.
