Irton Hall is an older property and therefore you should visit with this in mind. There is no air conditioning but a fan is provided in the room and the sash windows open nice and wide. This might be something for those with young children to watch out for as it is the bottom half of the window that opens.
The standard double room was perfectly acceptable, nice big and comfortable bed, flat screen TV, fridge in room stocked with bottled water, tea and coffee and etc replenished daily. The bathroom is relatively modern with a jacuzzi style bath. Plenty of storage space and hangers in the wardrobe.
The cleaner came every day and looked after the room really well.
The food in the restaurant was really good with a nice selection of breakfast items in the menu and cereal and fruit juices on a buffet.
The dinner menu was equally good with a selection to choose from. Everything from steaks to pizza which were all tasty and good value. Not so keen on the falafel but can recommend the Cajun prawn skewers and Goats cheese salad.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. We did have a waitress (Spanish I think) who made a couple of gaffs with the orders so make sure they repeat the order back to you is my advice.
The hotel is on the West side of the Lake Dirstrict so most days involved an hour to hour and a half drive to get to the Eastern parts of Windermere, Kendal etc. Aside from that I’d be happy to return.
