Borrowdale Gates Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"A great stay, staff extremely helpful and freindly. We arrived with a 6 week old baby and hotel did everything possible to accomodate us. Breakfast was great, in general very enjoyable. Evening meal was very enjoyable though a little on the expensive side tbh. Overall would highly reccommend."

The Three Shires Inn

The Three Shires Inn

8/10 Good
"All the staff we met were great, cheerfull helpfull and polite. The room was clean and comfortable and what one expects in a very old building. Only 4 stars for 2 reasons the shower only worked on the large head and the food choices were very limited both in the restaurant and at breakfast. No salads and limited vegetables in restaurant. No fruit or cereal at breakfast. The hotel is remote which is part of it's appeal for us so going out in the evening is not an option,I would have struggled with finding a third evening meal."

High Wallabarrow Farm Cottage - Duddon Valley

High Wallabarrow Farm Cottage - Duddon Valley

10/10 Excellent
"Lovely cottage, not fancy but what I expected on a farm and in the area. There are no shops within walking distance, so best to get stocked up. Dog friendly ! And the farm dogs are friendly as well - just like the farmer and his son !If you like a quiet area, and being outdoors this is the right place for you.Good pub about a 15 minute walk away - but this is across fields and through woods so I wouldn't do if it was dark."
