Portugal is one of the best and most popular place to book a hotel in the world. It’s easy to see why, thanks to its beautiful weather, fab beaches and fascinating cities. One such city is its capital, Lisbon. As diverse as it is charming, in this city you’re bound to find the perfect place to stay to fit your lifestyle and wallet. Visitors looking to book a luxury stay in Lisbon will discover plush properties with shaded rooftop pools, interiors designed by famous architects, vintage-aircraft-themed lobby bars and refined restaurants helmed by Michelin-starred chefs. Travellers on a budget, meanwhile, won’t have to settle for a second-class experience, as the city has a wide range of wallet-friendly accommodation, including a great selection apartments and award winning hostels with modern amenities and unique touches. Most importantly, you’ll be able to sleep soundly right on the doorstep of one of Europe’s most fascinating cities.
With its wild beaches and dramatic cliffs, the Algarve continues to draw a crowd. Offering breath-taking sunsets, great seafood and some of the balmiest breezes on the Med, Algarve certainly deserves its reputation as one of Europe’s best beach getaways, and its popular status is well reflected in its range of accommodation. There are plenty of casual hotels and low-key resorts catering to families – especially in the central coastal region – but visitors will also find some adults-only properties, as well as a handful of upscale hotels and resorts. Vilamoura, Lagos and Albufeira draw the most visitors, but intrepid travellers can head inland to discover a wilder Portugal of blooming orchids, fig groves and tranquil villages like Alcoutim, where you’ll often find intimate hotels and sun-struck villas nestled in the rugged countryside. The western coast is even more unspoilt, and visitors looking to get off the beaten path will enjoy exploring its quaint hillside towns and low-key sandy beaches.
