    Pocket Guide: Greece Hotels

With around 6,000 islands and islets, almost 8,500 miles of sun-drenched coastline and one of the best climates in Europe, A hotel in Greece will give you plenty to explore and the perfect conditions to discover them in. On top of its considerable natural attributes, the country boasts one of the tastiest cuisines in the Med, a history stretching back thousands of years and a unique culture all of its own. Whether you want to top up your tan, explore ancient ruins, sample culinary delights or party the night away, Greece is guaranteed to cater for you.

Areas & Neighbourhoods: Where to Stay in Greece

Athens – One of the oldest and most historic cities in the world, Athens has been the site of some of the most important scientific, artistic and philosophical events in history. The birthplace of democracy and the home of the Acropolis, a hotel in Athens will provide you with more than enough attractions to keep even the most energetic sightseer busy for decades.

Crete – Greece’s largest island, Crete is also one of the country’s most popular hotel destinations. Home to a selection of outstanding beaches, ancient ruins and lively cities, the island is perfect for families, groups and couples looking for fun in the sun.

Ionian Islands – The two best known Ionian Islands are Corfu and Kefalonia, both of which boast lively towns, top hotels, rich histories and great beaches. Holidaymakers can have a go at a range of water sports, lounge on white, sandy coves or hire bikes and explore the green and fertile interiors of these unique islands.

Thessaloniki – Stay in Greece’s second city; Thessaloniki is fast making a name for itself as an alternative city break destination. Close to the holiday region of Chalkidiki, the city is packed full of character, charm and mouth-watering cuisine.

Things to See with a Hotel in Greece

Number one on the list of things to see in Greece has to be the Acropolis. Built in the 5th and 6th centuries BC, the Acropolis is made up of a network of temples and religious buildings and is located on one of the highest hills in Athens. Visitors can learn more about this ancient site at the nearby museum, one of the best in Greece. Other important sights include Delphi, where an oracle once gave out cryptic prophecies, Rhodes Town and Corfu Town, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage listed, and the Samaria Gorge, a dramatic 10-mile long canyon located in the Samaria National Park, Crete.

    Things to Do in Greece

Thanks to its vibrant cities, varied landscape, beautiful coastline and rich history, Greece offers something for everyone. Delve into ancient history in Athens, have a go at adrenaline-pumping watersports in Corfu, go hiking in Crete or explore the mountain paths and villages of the Peloponnese. Whether it’s quiet, remote villages or banging beach bars, Greece is sure to have a destination that will suit your needs perfectly.

    "Great Hotel with amazing service"
Andronis symbolises luxury with one of the finest service we have seen. Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary we found the perfect place and the perfect host in Nefeli who made our vacation so comfortable and memorable. We stayed at Zeus – right at the top and then at Poseidon closer to the pool for 2 days each and each had its own wonders. They do serve full breakfast in the room but try going to the Restaurant - they just make it so special and it’s so much better . It can get windy and cold in the evening so table at the crest overlooking the sea may look tempting but can get problematic. Must have a meal at the restaurant for true fine dining experience – steak is the best and wine collection is super – just leave it the sommelier he knows believe me !!!!! Visit Thalami just down the hotel for some incredible food. Need a great hot chocolate and pie? – go to Skiza – again very close to the hotel. Must visit an amazing store close by which has the finest collection of marionettes. Just walk along the boardwalk and shop; no need to go far. Cruise is good fun so a must do but the sunset one– it does get pretty hot in the day. Andronis is a place to chill and experience finer things in life so don’t rush your holiday,

    "Wonderful hotel and exceptional hospitality"
All the staff at the Cavo Bianco were tremendous - extremely polite, friendly and helpful - particularly the reception staff and the manager. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are spacious and I loved the décor. There is plenty of choice for breakfast and I also ate dinner at the hotel - the food was always very good and there was plenty of choice for vegetarians. If I ever return to Santorini I would definitely stay at the Cavo Bianco again - highly recommended.

We had a great time at Villa Olympia. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was a decent size with a small pool for babies and free towels.

    "Great holiday venue!"
Very impressed with what this hotel had to offer. I would argue that it is not a 5* but definitely a 4*. All inclusive really means all inclusive at the Mitsis Grand however wifi is not included in the rooms but you can get free wifi in the lobby. Spent 2 weeks here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is very good although as a vegetarian I struggled with variety. Plenty to eat though (and drink!).

    "Review April 2017"
This is the fourth time we have stayed here over the last 8 years. As ever our stay was enjoyable and we will be going back again next year. The staff are without exception helpful and our experience of this hotel is faultless. We had paid for a room upgrade this time and will do so again next year We only book B&B preferring to eat out evenings locally, there are 6 restaurants within a 5 minute walk so we spend our day by the pool drinking cocktails and then eat out locally in the evenings. We took a taxi to Lindos one evening but to be honest there is no need to travel that far to eat out, what's on the doorstep is good, and cheaper.

We had a lovely time, the only complaint I had was we were unable to have our prepaid breakfast the last morning as the ferry left too early and a take away breakfast was not an option even though we had paid for it.
