"Fantastic hotel, close to most of the main sight."
Before our break we received an email from the hotel offering collection from the airport, this was a few Euro's more than the fixed price taxi's but sounded an easy option as our time in Rome was limited with plenty to see in a couple of day's. As soon as we walked out of customs we were greeted by our driver and while everyone else was making their way to the train or negotiating the local Taxi drives we were already on our way to the hotel. Arriving at the Raffaello 4 hours before our check in time was not an issue for them at all & they were very accommodating, offering us a selection of fresh croissants, juice's, tea or coffee, free WiFi password, toilets & told we could leave our bags safely with them and start exploring the city. Due to the ease of all this so far we were exploring the city within an hour of leaving the airport. Quickly it became clear that we were within walking distance of The Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain (to be fair the only sight we didn't walk to was the Vatican, everything else was accessed on foot). Returning to the Hotel, we were nicely greeted by all the staff and told that our bags were already in our room, the room itself was a far better than we had expected for the money we had paid, so comfortable we actually fell asleep for a few hours before going out again. The room was well made every day by the staff. Buffet breakfast was exactly what was needed and they recommended and booked a perfect restaurant for our anniversary.
Very pleased with this hotel for a short 4 day stay. Clean and comfortable, lovely breakfast, friendly helpful staff. Excellent location, restaurants, bars and small shops just round the corner. Walking distance of Colosseum area. Would stay here again. Only down point was lack of tea/coffee facility. If I'd realized I could have taken travel kettle.
"wonderful 24 days--great staff ambience and staff"
My wife and I (both age 71) just returned to Toronto after 24 wonderful days and nights at the Ivanhoe. Location is superb--steps to the subway and a 15-minute walk to colloseum, forum, Ste. Maria Mag. cathedral, train terminal , Republica Plaza and other major attractions. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Many good, reasonable restaurants on Urbana Steet in front of the hotel and around Ste. Maria Mag. plaza. However, prices do vary considerably so check the menus and ask if you are cost conscious.
We spent five days in Room 33 which was charming but small--not for the obese or families. We then moved to Room 45, which was quite adequate in size.

The Ivanhoe hotel enjoys an excellent position in the centre of Rome, in the Monti district - one of the most …More
I visit Rome for business every other month and Kolbe is always my first option! Very well located for after business calm and nice walks in trastevere, piazza navona, pantheon, coliseum... Excellent rooms, nice, silent, nice patio and good breakfast
We stayed at Hotel de Monti for 6 nights during our first visit to Rome. It felt like we were staying in an apartment (hotel occupies the 3rd floor of a building in the Monti neighbourhood, no elevator) but we had a lovely breakfast served each morning (menu choices are typical local fare which you select the day before) and had our room tidied up and fresh towels provided daily. Mauro, our wonderful host, was very helpful to provide sightseeing tips which helped us to plan our itinerary, miss crowds and take shortcuts. He was also very helpful in accommodating our special requests!
The heart of Ancient Rome, all roads led to the Forum. Visitors flock here to walk the streets where Julius Caesar once trod when this was the centre of commercial, political and judicial life. Nearby, the Colosseum, described by Lord Byron as 'the gladiators' bloody circus', is the world's most famous amphitheatre and the most impressive of all Rome's buildings and ruins.
