This property is like the Jewel in the Crown!! Firstly, don't be put off by the small number of excellent reviews as it has only opened this year. The hosts, Katy and Olivier, were both working in England for many years at a high quality and popular hotel in the Yorkshire Dales. Katy's family owned this Yorkshire hotel and Olivier was the head chef. When the family sold the Hotel, Katy & Olivier returned to his native France and then the Maison du canal du midi was born. It's a beautiful old...

Receptionist extremely friendly, facilities fantastic for our overnight stopover. Great 2 bedroom appartment.

Lovely hotel in an excellent location, just a short walk into the old town but also on a street with plenty of amenities of its own. Free parking nearby in the Place Barbicane which was easy to find and close to the hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and local products. The hotel garden was beautiful, and a cute if very small roof terrace too from which you can get a view of the city walls.

Lovely shabby chic style hotel with lots of upcycled features within a renovated collection of buildings around a central courtyard. Attentive welcome from the owner and lots of nice touches, such as the gifting of a delicious homemade chocolate dessert on our final night. Makes a pleasant change from overly commercialised and formulaic hotels, where you are just part of a pipeline of guests - this feels more like staying with family or friends. Highly recommended

One of the best hotels I have stayed at. In beautiful surroundings with a rustic charm but with fantastic modern rooms. The staff were amazing, couldn't do enough for you and were bilingual, which was a big help for me. Effortlessly conversing in English and German. The bed was comfy, the shower amazing and the TV a nice big size. The restaurant was fabulous and every meal I had there was delicious. I loved the outside areas too, either cooling off in the pool, reading a book in the tranquil...

Would highly recommend. Will definitely return

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this first class hotel. The staff were professional, treated us well and with respect. There were many occasions when we were able to engage in humorous banter with members of staff and this we appreciated. Our room was in a quiet location at the back of the hotel overlooking the garden. The breakfasts were of top quality and offered a great choice.

A great old hotel with lots of old world charm. Convenient for Carcassonne airport and a short taxi ride into town. Set in wonderful grounds with a great pool. We were here 20+ years ago and little had changed. Dinner is a special event here.

Just across the road from the old town. Excellent position

Staff very friendly. Room was spacious and next to a beautiful tranquil garden. Very conveniently located in the middle of the Cité yet an escape from the crowds. Could not have been better.

Great stay!

We chose the hotel because it offered breakfast as part of the deal. When we got there we discovered it was a very remote (quiet) rural, converted farmhouse offering modern room facilities and excellent breakfast. It also had an outdoor, unheated, swimming pool, horses to ride and staff who could not do enough for us. Most spoke good English; the manager and his wife are both English as was the main waitress in the evenings. We chose to eat there the first night and as a result ate there...

Excellent hotel, 3 minutes from main entrance in to the city. Our room had a small garden with table and chairs to sit out in and enjoy a glass of wine. Private parking within a secure compound. Our room was excellent, well appointed and very clean. Hotel staff are excellent and the breakfast was the best we had on our whole trip. 10/10

If you want a fancy place to stay this is not for you, however if want a comfortable, basic hotel with clean rooms and breakfast and extremely friendly staff this is the one to choose. Breakfast consists of cheese and ham , jam, yoghurt, coffee or tea boiled egg (if you want), pastries and fruit juice. With the option of cereals for 12 euros. The hotel also offers secure parking for 10 euros per day. However there is a city tax of 1 euro per day.

This was terrific value for money and would happily stay again. While it's a good 15 mins or so up a hill from the station, for £40 or so, there's nothing at all to complain about- big rooms with cooking facilities, microwave and even a dishwasher should you need it, a lovely swimming pool and staff who were knowlegable and extremely helpful; particularly Guaytan , who couldn't have been more efficient and personable. All in all, very good.

I aim to come back here time and time again.. Though the reception is closed 12:00-16:00, they opened to allow myself, and also an elderly French couple to do a bag drop at 13:30 This allowed me to spend the afternoon in the citadel. Left out of the hotel grounds, you can literally walk into the front entrance of the citadel, only 500m west, past homes with olive trees and other fruits growing in the garden. The kitchen itself is excellent, fridge, dish washer, 2 ring cooker, kettle,...
