"Clean, modern and very pleasant"
We enjoyed staying at this hotel. Our room overlooked the cricket pitch and it was a really pleasant outlook. The facilities in the hotel - the spa in particular - are superb. The only downside was a certain slowness of service in Beefy's restaurant.

"Convenient hotel close to cricket ground "
This is a basic, clean and friendly hotel which is in a convenient location for the cricket ground and airport. The loo roll and the tissues were of particularly low standard and could easily be upgraded to give a nicer experience.

"Disappointing restaurant"
This was set up as a treat for a friend: nice hotel, nice meal, pleasant room, NICE. But problems from the start. The double room was a Twin which required a long walk to reception to complain. It was eventually put right. We had to book a table upon arrival as we were told the restaurant was almost fully booked, but it was half empty when we ate. The service was poor. The food was especially disappointing with VERY small portions on the starters and the Main was a joke. It would have only half filled a side-plate with tiny chicken breast, two very small baby carrots, half a small mushroom and two bites of potato. The food tasted great but was VERY expensive for the small portions. Afterwards, coffee in the lounge was served after a VERY long wait by a surly lady who didn't smile. This is a not friendly hotel which seems to employ a lot of people with difficulty speaking understandable English.

"Convenient for city centre & parks"
A typical, modern hotel situated a short walk from the city centre & the rail & coach stations & yet it looks out on the extensive green heart of Southampton. Walk across the the parks & past the shopping malls to discover the rich history that Southampton wears so lightly. Past the Bargate (Roman) you can call in to the Dolphin or the Star, both historic coaching inns. A little further is the Red Lion, a pub where Henry V held a court on his way to Agincourt. Just around the corner are Tudor House & The Bugle, which may be the oldest pub in Britain. The history of the port is everywhere, from memorials to Titanic & Mayflower to links with the great transatlantic liners & the part Southampton played in D-Day & the price it paid during WW2.
