Hotel was very clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. The spa, pool and sauna etc were quite busy but there again it was full of weekend spa people.

"Short but sweet"
We should have dropped the kids of earlier and spent more time at this gorgeous hotel. Really warm welcome from helpful staff, comfortable clean room of a high standard and breakfast was delicious.

"A comfortable stay at the Holiday Inn Basingstoke"
We stayed one night at the Holiday Inn in a Executive Room. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist who welcomed us and checked us in very quickly. The room we were given was smaller than I thought, but was still of a good size, with a 42inch flat screen TV, room operated AC, local magazines and complementary chocolate and mineral water. The bed was a queen sized, but was very comfortable. Both the Bathroom and Bedroom were very clean, with the nice soaps and haberdashery items as standard. The only gripe we had was that there is a quite a gap between the room door and the floor, so you can hear other guests and room service walking up and down the corridor, plus loud TV coming across from the opposite room (however this stopped before bed time). Overall though, we had a pleasant stay. There is plenty of free parking onsite, however the car park immediately outside the hotel entrance gets full very fast if there are a lot of guests staying, so you do have a little walk around the complex to get in from the other hotel car parks if you are unlucky not to get a space out front. The Holiday Inn is also in a good spot on the A339 between Basingstoke and Alton, so is quite accessible, and not too far from the M3. The Hotel is about 3 miles from the town centre.

Apollo Hotel

"Ideal for the Ark Conference Centre"
An adequate hotel, ideal for the Arc Conference centre, although it is best to drive there because this the hotel is on some busy roads which are not pedestrian friendly. The entrance and main areas were smart. The room and bathroom seemed in need of some upgrading. Sanitary ware old, leaky taps, difficult to flush toilet, the shower good though with plenty of hot water. The bistro breakfast was good in parts but the bacon was unpleasant and some parts of the continental buffet less than fresh, eg a prune tasted fermented and cheese and ham drying up, even though we arrived early for breakfast. The coffee was undrinkable on the first day and hot drinks not offered on the second. The staff there were very sweet but rather young and inexperienced. We had a reasonable evening meal here one evening but had to sit in front of our starter, waiting for our wine to arrive.

"OK for a short stay"
Used for a one night stop over coming back from France. Only hotel which would accept our dog for the night which was on our way. Arrived late from the ferry but was no problem. The room, which I guess was used for guests with dogs, was cold when we entered it and had a strange smell. The room soon warmed up when we turned up the heater but would have been nice for the room to be warm when we arrives. Also soon got used to the smell once the room warmed up. Not sure if the hotel had washed the carpet in the room and it was still slightly damp. The room was ok, comfy bed and pillows; easy to get to sleep. Clean with plenty of extra duvets and pillows and loads of room for our dog's portable cage. Usual tea and coffee making facilities. Ironing board and iron as well as a hairdryer. Unlike a lot of hotels the room was well lit which I liked and had a working alarm clock. The bathroom was average but the shower was not as powerful as I would have liked. Lots of towels and the usual soaps and shampoos. Our room was nice and quiet and no problem sleeping. We had paid for breakfast as part of the room rate which turned out to be worth doing. Great selection of fruit, cereals and bread, rolls etc. Also hot food choice very good with a chef on hand to cook your eggs any way you wanted. Attentive staff in the restaurant cleared away the dirty dishes as soon as we had finished using them. Check out easy and quick. would stay again when down that part of the country.

"smart, comfortable hotel in the center of town"
My one night stay at The Red Lion was a very pleasant experience. The staff were polite, the rooms were spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable and they provided all the necessary items to make tea & coffee - with biscuits included!! The hotel itself is in the center of town, close to all amenities. What more could a traveler want?

"Nice B&B in Basingstoke."
I had a great stay at this bed and breakfast in Basingstoke. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The room I had was clean and comfortable and had been freshly renovated. The residence is within reasonable walking distance to the town's center, shopping, and bus and rail stations with easy connections into London.
