We turned up at the hotel and went to check in. Instantly there was an issue, as multiple families were checking in and being advised that the hotel had over booked and they were full. I showed our booking reference and the receptionist disappeared for 10/15 minutes without saying a word. Another member of staff arrived and advised they were there just to hold fort whilst the receptionist was away from the desk. No manager was on site that weekend and due to the mess up of bookings it was obvious the staff were trying their best to get rooms ready for guests that were turning up. We booked a double room and when we finally got into our room it was a family room with two double beds. The room had a hint of raw sewage as soon as we walked in and came and went throughout our two night stay there. Granted the first night was extremely hot due to the weather, but the windows only open a few inches and have security cable on them so you cant open fully to get any breeze in the room. The room itself wasn’t the cleanest of rooms. You could see where the cleaners have just run a cloth over the bed side table and lamp with dust engrained between the lamp base and table and dust on the lamp itself. Due to the current COVID-19 we thought the rooms would have had a higher cleaning standard than they did. The bath you could tell was very old, the nobbles on the floor of the bath had worn down considerably with two black marks in between. Overall, I won’t return.

Checked in and was greeted with a polite friendly welcome. Everything seemed very good and was practicing COVID safety. Got to room and a sanitised sticker was on the door. Very good ! Got into the room and unfortunately it seemed as some things had been clean but was not satirised as dust was still on side mirror lamps. Myself and my wife had some disinfected wipes with us so gave the room a wipe over just to make sure. The room was clean but cleaners need to be retrained or sent on course about health and hygiene. Nice stay as needed a small break.

NOT Pet Friendly

Charged extra £100 for pets on top of a £92 tarriff for humans. there was no mention of extra charge on Hotels.com where we booked the stay. Room not cleaned with open used shampoo and soap left in bathroom. Serviette and crisps left on floor for our chihuahua to find on first visit. Stayed for 2 nights but the room key was cancelled after the first night so on returning we were locked out of the room. Receptionist tried to blame putting the room card with other cards. Both our card keys for the room had been cancelled. It is stated that the rooms are cleaned daily but our room was not cleaned from one day to the next. No bedclothes were changed no towels were changed. Beds were not made.Coffee and tea not replenished. Very few to start with. We had to go to reception to ask for toilet roll as there was none in the room. The TV was glitchy in that if you are watching an action scene it went all blocky and very low res as movies do when there is insufficient bandwidth. Lockers in the changing rooms for the pool were broken with doors hanging.

Room was freezing,’radiators didn’t work, windows were air’y and could hear noise from other guests till 2-3 AM. No info on bar/restaurant times. No staff to be found anywhere over the two nights. Tea/coffee not refilled over entire 3 days. Bed had a thick sheet on bed and no duvet. Smelt musty throughout.
