"Beautiful main building set in lovely grounds."
Booked an overnight stay - requested a twin room but were given a double room in the outside buildings. However the double or queen bed seemed to be 2 singles joined together so it was ok. The room was nicely decorated and there were bottles of water and fresh fruit as well as tea/coffee and kettle. Also bathrobes and slippers were provided. The view was of a roof outside each window. The room was warm but luckily there was a fan in the wardrobe.

"Excellent location near ferry port"
Although not cheap, the hotel is probably by far the best place to stay in Brodick with the building , decor and staff hard to fault ( except for the number of pillows on the beds!). However we did find that Brodick itself did lack any real centre or character - the front is just a series of supermarkets, hire shops and guest houses. The real reason to come to Arran lies beyond the resort with incredible hills (though getting onto them is not helped by widespread bracken on some of the approaches). The castle is also well worth a visit.

"Family Reunion"
I stayed at the Fenwick Hotel recently to do some family history research and meet some of my new cousins for the first time. The food was delicious and the wait-staff, especially Aileen, were excellent! There is a good selection of mixed drinks and beers on tap in the bar. The public spaces have been renovated and makes the hotel look very up-to-date and modern. The problem is they haven't finished updating the hotel rooms. While my cousin had a newly refurbished room (room 4), I had room 11 which didn't appear to be renovated and was just plain awkward. The room wasn't uncomfortable, but it was clear that little attention was paid to details. The lamp above the bed had a broken lampshade which was hanging over the edge of the sconce bracket. The light bulb was also clearly burnt out. They taped the lampshade back on the 2nd day I was there, but never changed the bulb. The room had a nice large desk to work from, but their was no lamp to light it... the garbage can for the room, was under the desk chair, which I kept knocking over whenever I moved. The bathroom looked like it had been modernized, but this dumb American could NOT get the shower to work no matter how hard I tried. It was either blazingly hot or freezing cold. There was a coffee/tea maker in the room which I used every day, but would have liked a mini refrigerator. All-in-all, I enjoyed my stay, but look forward to one of the 'new rooms' next time I visit.

"Smart Guest House Near Town"
The room was well decorated and clean! The pillows could do with being of better quality. We had good customer service from the owner who went out of her way to welcome us and make sure we had the door code! The WiFi was not up to the job and this spoilt things as we were going to watch a programme on BBC iPlayer!
