My stay was fine, but much of the staff seemed grumpy and cold, showing poor customer service. As well, the hotel is not located in a central location or in an interesting neighborhood, but the hotel is adequate.
Perfect location if you need to use the Atocha Train Station, or, since there is also the Atocha subway station, to go anywhere in Madrid.
Very short walk to museums - Prado and Reina Sofia - longer but easily done walk to Plaza Callao and Puerta del Sol
Seeking a smaller, boutique hotel experience, I found Artrip and could not have been happier with it. The staff were kind, they upgraded me to a larger, nice suite, and kindly put some Halloween candy in it.
First visit to Madrid hotel is located walking distance to centre and easily accessible by metro.
We had a small problem with room when checking in the room smelt of smoke this was delt with with no problem.
Room was very nice and comfortable only small problem in bathroom tap on bath would not turn from shower to bath setting (403)
Breakfast was good it did get very busy at the weekend but on the whole ok.

We stayed at the Eric Vokel location in atocha. The hotel check in was automated since we arrived after hours (receptionists are there until 6pm). All went smoothly, fortunately. It's a great option for families, long term vacationers, and especially if you knew a bit about the city to begin with. If you've never been to Spain, then you're better off at a conventional hotel because of the full 24 hour amenities and concierge service. It worked out great for us. The apartments are clean, and the kitchen is great to have. The decor is simple but sophisticated. The receptionist was very helpful.
South of the centre, Atocha is Madrid’s largest train station with fast trains to Andalusia and, more surprisingly, tropical gardens (with a pleasant café) in the old terminal building. The Museum of Anthropology is opposite and, over the Ronda de Atocha, the Reina Sofia art museum has benefited enormously from a bold, modern expansion. Nearby, Teatro Circo Price is a traditional circus and ideal for children.
