Excellent location, very clean rooms with soundproof windows.
Space could be a little tight, staff is efficient and friendly, buffet breakfast is very nice. Blackout curtains let a little too much light through. The AC doesnt really cool.
Would go back.
The location is great. The Hotel is indeed a small luxury hotel, but nor the service nor the facilites pays of for the price per night. We found it extremely expensive for what you get. We beeb to many Small Luxury Hotels around the world and not only services but hotel facilities and room comfort are better.
The hotel has been tastefully modernised from one of the old buildings of this select quarter of Madrid known as Barrio Salamanca. It's on Calle Serrano, the main shopping street (if you're rich). Transport by bus or metro (or taxi) to anywhere in the city is on the doorstep, and many places such as the Prado Museum are within walking distance. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. The hotel decor is bright and clean but not glaring. Some of the old building's features have been retained, as in the curved passages walled with beautiful ancient brick. My room on the first floor was extremely comfortable, and quiet - not guaranteed in many Madrid hotels!
I have three small niggles - the bathroom was great, with a huge bath - but it was so big that you couldn't get into it without either climbing over the end of it - two feet high and a foot thick - or edging round the side of it by the wall - a tight squeeze even for a (fairly) slim person. It also had loads of nozzles whose function I never figured out and there were no instructions! But the water was wonderfully hot with plenty of pressure.
The other niggle was the curtains on the huge windows, which gave out onto the interior patio, where lights are on all night. Although the curtains are light-proofed, they are not very well adjusted and I couldn't get them to block out the light entirely in the middle or at the edges. Thirdly, why no BBC 24 hour-news, only CNN? Otherwise, a great place to stay.
There's not wi fi as they said: very bad connection and they told me to call to the provider instead of giving me a solution.
Reception during check in wasn' t very friendly. I ask by mail for and early check in and they confirm that option by mail eithaprice that I have accepted. When I arrive very tired they said they didn' t have my room yet, that I have to wait for the check in a few hours!!!!! I was very desapointed so they offer to pay for a better room and then check. I wasn't agree with that I accepted to pay for early check in no for a better room during all my permanence in the hotel! Finally I have got and upgrade but I really had preferred to have my room without all that tension.
The hotel is located very near the bus and train station. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very courteous and professional, the gave us all the information we needed and were able to give recommendations and make a couple of event reservation for us. The room was very clean and comfortable. The food was amazing at a very decent price and the staff again was wonderful. I would definately recommend this hotel and would stay there again when I go back to Madrid.
the hotel and staff first class would have prefered hotel nearer the cenre of town but realy the only two small minus points were that the room didnt have a chair or tea coffee facilitys other wise very good
the desk staff very helpful
Centrally located in the elegant borough of Salamanca in Madrid.. this new urban hospitality concept is directed by its …More
North of the Retiro, Salamanca has always been an affluent neighbourhood. Its grid-like streets and beautiful houses sprang up at the end of the 19th century, escaping from the old city walls. Today, ladies who lunch drop into its spas and designer shops, many of which line the long, sleek Calle Serrano. The National Library and the Museum of Archaeology are close to the Plaza de Colón.
